When Vanessa Hudgens was gearing up to play Rizzo in FOX’s Grease Live back in January, she was nothing but excited for the iconic role. But just one day before the big performance, she got the most heartbreaking news: her father passed away of cancer six months after she first revealed he was battling the disease. While Vanessa continued on with the show after finding out the news, she was ultimately praised for her performance, especially her emotional rendition of “There Are Worst Things I Could Do.”
Now, months after her devastating loss, Vanessa is opening up about losing her father, telling E! News, “It felt like it was some mean joke. You think you’re going to make it through, you’re there with them every step of the way, holding their hand, wanting it to be okay.”
