Beloved actor Charlton Heston, 84, past away last night at his Beverly Hills home. The cause of death has not been released yet.
Heston was an Academy Award-Winning actor who was best known for his roles as Judah Ben-Hur in Ben Hur, Moses in The Ten Commandments, and Colonel George Taylor in Planet of the Apes. Heston was just as involved off screen as he was on screen. He was president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1966 to 1971 and served as chairman of the American Film Institute. Charlton Heston was also well known for his term as president of the National Rifle Association.
The Heston family released a statements saying, ” Charlton Heston was seen by the world as larger than life. He was known for his chiseled jaw, broad shoulders and resonating voice, and of course, for the roles he played. No one could ask for a fuller life than his. No man could have given more to his family, to his profession, and to his country.” Charlton Heston was a true Hollywood legend and will be remembered fondly.
“We knew him as an adoring husband, a kind and devoted father, and a gentle grandfather, with an infectious sense of humor,” the family said. “He served these far greater roles with tremendous faith, courage and dignity. He loved deeply, and he was deeply loved.”
