Last night was the final stop for Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom Huck Jam Tour in Irvine, California and Hollywire was there.
The show got off to a slow start and was a little smaller than I was expecting, but once Tony Hawk hit the half pipe the crowd went wild and everyone was pumped up. It was clear that everyone was there to see one man perform, the “Bird Man.”
However, as the night went on it was the other performers, Kevin Staab, Jesse Fritsch, Sergie Ventura, Neal Hendrix, Kevin Robinson, John Parker, Dennis McCoy, Drake McElroy, Matt Buyten, Greg Garrision, and special guest Mike Relm, that stole the spotlight.
A die-hard Tony Hawk fan, 9 year old Nick Martinez, said, “I came here to see Tony Hawk, but my
favorite skateboarder tonight was Kevin Staab because he did the coolest tricks.”
The show lasted for about 2 hours and when it was all said and done,
Tony Hawk made his way through the crowd giving all the fans high fives. There was only one performer gracious enough to stay after the show and sign autographs and that was pro skateboarder Neal Hendrix.
Overall it was a great show and if you didn’t make it this year, you should definitely put Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom Huck Jam 2009 on your to do list for next summer. I know I’ll be there.

It looks like it was a great show. Those kids are so lucky I wish I could have been there.

2 hours long– that’s pretty awesome!
