Frederic States Colors LA Beautiful

A native of Miami, Frederic States started his career as a colorist over 20 years ago.

After working at the exclusive Privé Salon in Beverly Hills, he opened his own super comfy studio in Santa Monica just one block from the beach about 4 years ago.

Salon FrontWhat makes Frederic different from all of the salons in Los Angeles? Everything!

He knows all of the latest trends and techniques and is phenomenal at what he does, but the way in which he sets the mood at his salon sets him worlds apart. With cool ocean breezes coming in any number of the open doors or windows, you have a feeling of comfort and zero stuffiness. He even encourages his clients to bring their kids or their pets – something I am sure the Bev Hills salons would turn their noses up at!

He is trained - and AMAZING at - Balayages (Baliage in the US) a way of highlighting the hair without foils when the colorist uses their skill to paint the highlights on in specific places. This is not a talent many people have because of the difficulty…you have it or you don’t.

Frederic Balayages

Bottom line is that he is down to earth like the best friend you have known forever. He is Chris MacMillan to your Jennifer Aniston! My hair looks better than it ever has and I had so much fun in his chair.

You can too! Keep an eye out for a contest starting next week for a complimentary color with Frederic or be one of the first 10 LA locals to email me Soozie@Hollywire.com and receive $40 off any color service.

[...] Frederic makes sure that his products are all organic, all natural and vegetable-based.  And his application technique is not something you see everyday in just any salon!  Our beauty reviewer, Soozie, had the pleasure of experiencing the Balayages (Baliage in the US) technique, a way of highlighting the hair without foils by painting the highlights on in specific places. Check out her article! [...]
