A brand of stilettos for babies, named Heelarious, has become the latest controversial fashion trend.
The “tiny soft baby shoes with soft heels for infants up to 6 months” were created by Britta Bacon and Hayden Porter. Bacon said that,
I’ve always been a shoe freak and I thought, ‘OMG, what if you could take a baby to a party wearing high heels? It would be hilarious!’ The shoes are just a fun, novelty, dress up item.
Although many think that the shoes are just to cute, others believe they are hideous. Some people believe that putting high heels on a baby is perverted and will rob them of their innocence. Hayden Porter responded with, ” A 3-month old baby has no idea she’s wearing high heels.”
I don’t see any real difference between the Heelarious shoes and Disney dress up shoes, but I guess every new fashion is going to receive some form of criticism. Just look at the negativity that Beyonce’s new fashion line, Dereon Girls, received.
I think that the baby stilettos are very cute and I can’t wait for them to come out with toddlers sizes. The shoes will go on sell starting next week at the Doll Factory in Toronto and will cost $39.95 a pair.
So what do you think, are they hilarious or hideous?

Hideous–yuck…I like the prints, but ballet flats would’ve been cuter than stilettos!

Make up, earrings, nail polish, fake tan, sexy underwear and now high heals for children! We complain about school children growing up too young, “babies having babies”, do you wonder why? Let them enjoy their childhood, it doesn’t last long!

get em started young!
June 24th, 2008 at 4:48 am
i think this is a very sad way of making money, my eldest daughter is 10 and i still wont let her wear heels.
never mind letting kids be kids, lat babies be babies, this may even damage them physically, women find it hard enough wearing these ridiculous shoes!!
June 24th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
@snumpy
How can a soft heel on a child that can’t walk hurt them? I am shocked at peoples comments. Like you have never seen a child walking around in mommies heels playing dress up. They are just a novelty item.

We are 15 year old school girls from Scotland and we think they look stupid and it’s sick. They could break an ankle!
Xo.

call your self a smarty, how often do you actually see parents letting their kids go out in these dress up shoes. in my (and so many others) opinion its just another fad for parents who are so obviously screaming out “look at me i need attention!!”
June 25th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Maybe if my mom had put me in this since almost birth I’d be able to walk in heels…but now I’m in high school and all my girlfriends tease me cuz i just can’t walk in heels at all… i think it’s a good idea to train them young
June 26th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
stupid comments of those who dont understand the post.
“SOFT HEELS” they are for infants who dont walk. they are just novelty items.
sheesh… closed minded people are just easy to comment on any thing thats a change to what they got used to.
its nice they came up so that those who want to use them on their child can do so and to those who dont like it wont.
i personally dont like it but its nice that we have it coming. it creates more variety in life.
June 28th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
They look like Minnie Mouse’s shoes.
June 29th, 2008 at 3:41 pm
I think they’re funny.
And I think that every comment from the creator indicates that they are not serious or harmful.
It’s not anymore sex exposure than letting your child sit in front of the tv all day no matter what ad comes up.
And you do have SOME control over how fast your child grows up. If you do nothing than its to be expected.

i think da concept of the shoes is very trendy for babies, but they are shaped really ugly.. well as far as da heel goes it looks a lil weird.. but y shouldnt a baby look fab too? lol.. i definitely think u should post up pics with an actual baby wearing them.. =o]
July 17th, 2008 at 6:07 am
OMG its sick… to sick…
sometimes I wonder if people behind shoes like this, and g-string and push-up bra to kids are really pedofiles or friends of a pedofil…
like bratz to seksuel doll for kids…
get a life…
July 17th, 2008 at 6:07 am
I think this is anything but funny. Whay on earth should babies wear things that are exclusive to grown ups? Another sexualisation of babies? Whats next?
July 17th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
how is it gonna hurt their feet? they cant walk!!
July 17th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
WRONG!
July 17th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
its absolutely DISGRACEFULL, DISGUSTING AND WRONG how rudeeeeeeeee
people who put their children in these should be given a lethal injection for a long slow death for perversion
July 17th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
like hell would i let my 2month old daughter wear them. Its wrong babies should be babies my daughter wears everything girly pink dresses white thights pink Baby shoes with little hearts and buckels.i have older people coming up to me saying its lovely to see a baby looking like a baby and i agree they grow up way to fast. If you saw a baby in a boob tube, mini skirt and fishnets you would have something to say well this is no different. I am a young mum and have more sense than to degrade my baby by putting her in there horrific shoes. Its wrong its perverted its horrible plus they are ugly. But i i guess some vein mother will put her daughter in them.
July 28th, 2008 at 11:42 am
I think these shoes are so funny! I’m going to buy them for a friend of mind for her baby. She will also laugh and think that they are cute. I guess people hate what they don’t understand. What do you think the older people thought when we invented the pacifier? Lighten up! Laugh, it’s fun.
August 9th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
Heels are ultra girly and does not have a sexual connotation all the time. Plus these are plush heels, not real stilettos. It’s somthing funny and cute. I grew up wearing little heels and dresses everyday growing up and that has not made me turn into a prostitute… I believe it’s even better than buying those Brats dolls with huge lips and slutty clothes.
September 10th, 2008 at 12:22 am
I think they are adorable!!!!! Thay are fun, and cute. I as a grandmother someday soon (I hope) would love to have a portrait of a grandaughter taken in something adorable with these shoes. Its all just for fun. PEOPLE LIGHTEN UP!!!!!
September 10th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
I don’t agree with the sexy underwear, and push up bras for little girls. I do agree that those things are perverted, and wrong. But These shoes are adorable!! It’s not like they can walk in them anyway, even if they could they are soft and squishy. I have read some comments, and man do people have some SERIOUSLY LONG(probably thorny or splintered) sticks up there butts! My goodness people can we say OVER DRAMATIC! They are SHOES,and people are talking about pedophelia?! How wold CUTE baby shoes bring thoughts like that into someones head UNLESS they are seriously disturbed!! Those people are the sickos for even bringing it up!
September 12th, 2008 at 9:19 am
i dont really agree with these shoes but as a joke hhaahaaha funny i guess i dunno i just think with the way pedifiles and perverts are now days its just feeding there addiction and makeing it worse i wouldent personally put them on my daughter but what ever floats your boat i guess…
September 13th, 2008 at 9:53 am
i think they are hidious and i have a 3 month old daughter and i would never ever put those on her, stilletos are supposed to be sexy, babies are not supposed to be sexy.
September 13th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
Okay so you say that pedophiles will get off on them. Then why do we dress our little girls in short dresses with cute ruffly panties that are MEANT TO BE SHOWN? We call that cute but a pedophile would find it exciting, and clothes like that for little girls is normal. We dress our girls in things we would NOT wear as adults because at that point it would be slutty to show our cute panties. To me these are funny, and they look like Minnie Mouse’s shoes. They won’t harm a baby’s feet because the shoes don’t have an arch, DUH. I don’t get it, you would give your little girls dress up heels (I gave them to my granddaaughters) but turn your nose up at this? Get a grip.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
THIS MAKES ME SICK! Not cute and not funny. DISGUSTING AND WRONG!
September 28th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
OMG! people who are so OVER DRAMATIC about these items are nothing but dumbasses they DO probably put the frilly panties on thier little girls, but god forbid putting a soft girlie little heel on them right? get a freakin grip on reality people and stop making things you dont understand or agree with “disgusting” you prudish yuppies!
October 7th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
my daughter is 6 n half month i think they would look really cute with a dress on if ya was goin 2 a party.i dnt c wot ppl problem is if they cnt walk its nt guna hurt there feet.x
October 15th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
I think these are cute, its nothing serious or harmful, they are SOFT HEELS. People are just sterotyping that babies in stilettos are going to be hookers, sluts, and babies making babies, THATS YOUR CHOICE ON HOW YOU RAISE THEM, not the baby. And it you didn’t check out the site, its “babies first heels”, it’s just something cute… like “babies first walk/word/pee/poo/hair cut”….. I think fashionista’s would get a kick out of this, maybe not how its made, but the concept. It’d be cute to see a baby girl in a stroller sitting with her SOFT HEEL stiletto with a target set oufit. I believe i’m going to buy my god daughter this, i’ve always had a joke with my friend that i’d buy her daughter her first heels when she pops out. -Be open minded. Know the product and resepect its creator, if you don’t like it leave. Either that or your baby just can’t pull it off :)
November 9th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
All you people winging about this get a life. Its a great idea for a little fun. Obviously once children start walking they will not wear heels until they’re in their late teens. As you can see their feet are not bent like they would be in ladies heels. They’re just like normal baby shoes so their feet are flat. Its not making kids grow up too fast, they don’t even know what they’re wearing at this age.
November 24th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Baby heels, GAWD……With all the freaky problems in the world…..are people really buying this crap. Talk about being so desperate to be considered hip and creative. STUPID
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:16 pm

Stilletos for infants is disgusting!! Infants and children are innocent and should be allowed to remain that way. High heels especially stillettos are considered a sex symbol. Therefore, putting an innocent infant in a pair of stillettos is sexualizing an infant and is an atrocity. Our priorites are severly compromised if we are entertaining the thought of putting a child in stillettos. Adolescents have been exposed to many things they shouldn’t and now we are seeing it tricle down to new borns and toddlers. Shouldn’t we be teaching them words and how to walk? People should stop and think about the remaifications of their actions before commiting such a crime against the youth of our country. Let’s work toward preserving the innocence of our children. Afterall, isn’t our job to protect them and instill good morals into them.
October 14th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
I think the shoes are unique I love heals myself you’ll came up with a great idea. Can’t wait for the toodlers heals to come out!

Does no one understand that babies can’t even walk? How is it supposed to be damaging physically? There’s a big difference in letting a 8 or 9 year old girl wear heels and putting them on a baby that will be carried around all night. The heels are precious. They’re just meant to be funny. People need to slow their roll a little bit and try to have a sense of humor. However, I think the heels for toddlers is a terrible idea. That really is potentially dangerous.
