Baby Stilettos are the Newest Controversial Fashion Trend

Posted on 24 June 2008 by Loretta

A brand of stilettos for babies, named Heelarious, has become the latest controversial fashion trend.

The “tiny soft baby shoes with soft heels for infants up to 6 months” were created by Britta Bacon and Hayden Porter. Bacon said that,

I’ve always been a shoe freak and I thought, ‘OMG, what if you could take a baby to a party wearing high heels? It would be hilarious!’ The shoes are just a fun, novelty, dress up item.

Although many think that the shoes are just to cute, others believe they are hideous. Some people believe that putting high heels on a baby is perverted and will rob them of their innocence. Hayden Porter responded with, ” A 3-month old baby has no idea she’s wearing high heels.”

I don’t see any real difference between the Heelarious shoes and Disney dress up shoes, but I guess every new fashion is going to receive some form of criticism. Just look at the negativity that Beyonce’s new fashion line, Dereon Girls, received.

I think that the baby stilettos are very cute and I can’t wait for them to come out with toddlers sizes. The shoes will go on sell starting next week at the Doll Factory in Toronto and will cost $39.95 a pair.

So what do you think, are they hilarious or hideous?

Hideous–yuck…I like the prints, but ballet flats would’ve been cuter than stilettos!

  2. Sarah Says:

Make up, earrings, nail polish, fake tan, sexy underwear and now high heals for children! We complain about school children growing up too young, “babies having babies”, do you wonder why? Let them enjoy their childhood, it doesn’t last long!

  3. ksouthall Says:

    get em started young!

  4. snumpy Says:

i think this is a very sad way of making money, my eldest daughter is 10 and i still wont let her wear heels.
never mind letting kids be kids, lat babies be babies, this may even damage them physically, women find it hard enough wearing these ridiculous shoes!!

  5. smarty Says:

    @snumpy
How can a soft heel on a child that can’t walk hurt them? I am shocked at peoples comments. Like you have never seen a child walking around in mommies heels playing dress up. They are just a novelty item.

  6. Joanne & Alice Says:

We are 15 year old school girls from Scotland and we think they look stupid and it’s sick. They could break an ankle!

    Xo.

  7. snumpy Says:

call your self a smarty, how often do you actually see parents letting their kids go out in these dress up shoes. in my (and so many others) opinion its just another fad for parents who are so obviously screaming out “look at me i need attention!!”

  8. LooLaa Says:

Maybe if my mom had put me in this since almost birth I’d be able to walk in heels…but now I’m in high school and all my girlfriends tease me cuz i just can’t walk in heels at all… i think it’s a good idea to train them young

stupid comments of those who dont understand the post.
“SOFT HEELS” they are for infants who dont walk. they are just novelty items.
sheesh… closed minded people are just easy to comment on any thing thats a change to what they got used to.
its nice they came up so that those who want to use them on their child can do so and to those who dont like it wont.

i personally dont like it but its nice that we have it coming. it creates more variety in life.

  10. Aqua Says:

They look like Minnie Mouse’s shoes.

  11. Amanda Says:

    I think they’re funny.
And I think that every comment from the creator indicates that they are not serious or harmful.
It’s not anymore sex exposure than letting your child sit in front of the tv all day no matter what ad comes up.
And you do have SOME control over how fast your child grows up. If you do nothing than its to be expected.

  12. k3llz Says:

i think da concept of the shoes is very trendy for babies, but they are shaped really ugly.. well as far as da heel goes it looks a lil weird.. but y shouldnt a baby look fab too? lol.. i definitely think u should post up pics with an actual baby wearing them.. =o]

  13. Brian Says:

    OMG its sick… to sick…
sometimes I wonder if people behind shoes like this, and g-string and push-up bra to kids are really pedofiles or friends of a pedofil…
like bratz to seksuel doll for kids…
    get a life…

  14. aMom Says:

I think this is anything but funny. Whay on earth should babies wear things that are exclusive to grown ups? Another sexualisation of babies? Whats next?

  15. sarah f Says:

how is it gonna hurt their feet? they cant walk!!

  16. Anonymous Says:

    WRONG!

  17. allaannacol Says:

its absolutely DISGRACEFULL, DISGUSTING AND WRONG how rudeeeeeeeee

people who put their children in these should be given a lethal injection for a long slow death for perversion

  18. young mum Says:

like hell would i let my 2month old daughter wear them. Its wrong babies should be babies my daughter wears everything girly pink dresses white thights pink Baby shoes with little hearts and buckels.i have older people coming up to me saying its lovely to see a baby looking like a baby and i agree they grow up way to fast. If you saw a baby in a boob tube, mini skirt and fishnets you would have something to say well this is no different. I am a young mum and have more sense than to degrade my baby by putting her in there horrific shoes. Its wrong its perverted its horrible plus they are ugly. But i i guess some vein mother will put her daughter in them.

  19. Dana Says:

I think these shoes are so funny! I’m going to buy them for a friend of mind for her baby. She will also laugh and think that they are cute. I guess people hate what they don’t understand. What do you think the older people thought when we invented the pacifier? Lighten up! Laugh, it’s fun.

  20. Jenna Says:

Heels are ultra girly and does not have a sexual connotation all the time. Plus these are plush heels, not real stilettos. It’s somthing funny and cute. I grew up wearing little heels and dresses everyday growing up and that has not made me turn into a prostitute… I believe it’s even better than buying those Brats dolls with huge lips and slutty clothes.
