International Green Shield held a charity benefit at the W Hotel in Westwood, CA this past Sunday, bringing out Hollywood’s up and coming celebs, bands, designers, dancers and more!
**Read or scroll down to the very end to read my rant about Emmy Rossum!
The event was literally a circus, with a man on stilts greeting every guest and walking them to the pool area, where the girls from Hoopnotica were entertaining the guests with their entrancing dancing/hula hooping combination.
Celebrities turning out for the event included up and coming bands Stevie Starlight and Vokab Company, as well as musical artist Marc M. Cogman, who all later performed at the events’ evening concert.
Also in attendance was Age of Love star Jen Braff with her boyfriend, America’s Most Smartest Model star Jeff Pickel, who were both incredibly nice and cute together, especially considering the 22 year age difference between them (Jen is 48 and Jeff is 26).
The event was hosted by Comedy Central star Skyler Stone, who was making it really hard for me personally to take a good picture of him on the red (technically green) carpet because he was making me laugh so hard. (If anyone is a Waiting fan like me, he plays the cook who sprinkles a little salt (dandruff) on the rude customer’s steak.)
The girls of Merritt Charles jeans were there sporting their own designs, which as a girl I was obsessed with at first sight. The idea is to be able to have jeans that are cute and trendy, but that are also comfortable at the same time.
Philip Gilpin, the founder of International Green Shield, was so great and somehow managed to talk to everyone at the event while at the same time making sure everything went according to plan, and it absolutely did!
Now…for my mini rant that you’ve all been waiting for. Emmy Rossum (you may all know her from Mystic River, Phantom of the Opera, or the upcoming Dragonball movie) was in attendance, which I give her Kudos for, and she was definitely the most high profile celebrity at the event…HOWEVER, she refused, REFUSED, multiple times, to stand on the red (or green) carpet for pictures.
Not even for a smidgen of a second.
Now, I get that sometimes celebrities do not want to be photographed, and that’s fine, I can respect that. But girl, you are at a CHARITY EVENT, and when the coordinators of the event who invited you to come ask you repeatedly just to go take one innocent picture, and you just can’t bear the thought of that for some reason, then I don’t know how else to say this but..you suck!
In addition, I overheard Emmy saying that the people at the event were “weirding her out,” and she kept leaving the pool area to go hide out inside the hotel. So bottom line: I was really excited to see Emmy Rossum because I’m a fan of her work, but she was a total diva at the event. Oh and Emmy, if you’re reading this, a large amount of people don’t even know who you are so you actually might have WANTED me to take your picture for a little publicity at the very least! Lucky for you, I used my zoom and took some stalkerazzi shots of you from across the pool area…so IN YOUR FACE!
…I’m just sayin.
Besides the Emmy situation, the event was gorgeous and so well planned and in my opinion was hugely successful. International Green Shield sets out to “protect people affected by harsh climates and natural disasters through the completion of preventative construction projects that utilize green technologies” and you can support them or find out more by going to their website www.thegreenshield.org!
