Keira Knightley and her Atonement and Pride & Prejudice director, Joe Wright have teamed up again…this time in the name of domestic violence. The duo joined Women’s Aid a national domestic violence charity in the UK to film a campaign ad spreading awareness about domestic violence.
“Cut: The Movie” aims to show that domestic violence happens to everyone not just your stereotypical housewife who hides behind closed doors all of the time.
In the movie Knightley is seen as an actress with a seemingly glamorous life complete with fancy car and apartment, and a good looking boyfriend…but underneath all the glitz is an abusive household.
Keira explains why she got involved:
I wanted to take part in this advert for Women’s Aid because while domestic violence exists in every section of society we rarely hear about it. We may not think we know someone who has experienced domestic violence, but this does not mean that it is not happening. Domestic violence affects one in four women at some point in their lifetime and kills two women every week.
Take a look, maybe someone you know could use an objective look into reality….
