According to an interview with House Call with Dr. Sanjay Gupta on CNN, Matthew McConaughey has saved the placenta from Levi’s birth and plans on planting it in his yard.
McConaughey said,
It’s going to be in the orchards, and it’s going to bear some wonderful fruit. When I was in Australia, they had a placenta tree that was on the river…and all the placentas of all that tribe, all that clan, whatever aboriginal tribe that was, all the placentas went under that one tree and it was this huge behemoth of just health and strength. This tree was just growing taller and stronger above the rest of Mother Nature around it. It was gorgeous.
Now, I have heard some crazy things come out of the mouths of celebrities, but this one really takes the
cake. Who (not belonging to an aboriginal tribe) uses their child’s placenta as fertilizer? However, I would like to try a piece of that fruit….just to see if the placenta makes a difference.

This isnt that strange, have heard of it before. The thing I find icky is when people save it to eat it. Apparently there are health benefits, including helping postpartum depression, that go with eating it.

The placenta is the source of life to your babies (and was yours too) during the first 9 months of live… how can you be grossed out! You better get in tune with yourself… I find McConaughey’s act beautiful and inspiring.
