A Tribute to Corey Haim: The Movies We Loved

Cory-Haim-comeback

Today began with another sad and untimely passing of yet another young actor in Hollywood.  Corey Haim, the 80's teen heartthrob, and the real reason I bought teen magazines BOP and Tiger Beat, captured ladies hearts with many roles as a young actor.  He played alongside his best friend and fellow actor Corey Feldman in several films.  After a long battle with drugs Haim was recently trying to make his comeback in Hollywood with his appearance in Crank: High Voltage. The late actor also has films still in production.   Here is a list of the movies we loved:

Silver Bullet (1985)

In this werewolf thriller, Corey Haim plays wheelchair-confined Marty Coslaw, who goes after the werewolf responsible for killing the people in his town.

Lucas (1986)

A character all our young hearts broke for.  Though the movie wasn't always popular it starred several actors we know and love today, Charlie Sheen, Winona Ryder, and Keri GreenCorey Haim played Lucas, a socially inept fourteen-year-old who experiences heartbreak for the first time when his two best friends -- Cappie, (Charlie Sheen) an older-brother figure, and Maggie (Kerri Green), the new girl with whom he is in love -- fall for each other.

The Lost Boys (1987)

A cult classic vampire thriller, which shot Corey's fame to new heights.  In this film Corey plays Sam, brother to the newest member of the Santa Carla vampire biker gang.  Sam sets out with the local Frog Brothers (Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander) to kill the gang and its leader (Kiefer Sutherland) and rescue his brother before he fully vamps out.  Haim also played himself in the sequel The Lost Boys: The Tribe.

License to Drive (1988)

The movie that started the trend of casting The Corey's side-by-side.  In this movie, Corey Haim plays Lee, a teen who fails his drivers license.  When the opportunity to take out the girl of his deams, Mercedes (Heather Graham) on a date, he steals his grandpa's prized Cadillac only to have the night turn into disaster as the car and his date speed through hell and back.

Dream a Little Dream (1989)

In this film starring Corey Feldman, Haim plays Dinger, BFF to Feldman's character, where dreams get blurred with reality.

Dickie Roberts - Former Child Star (Widescreen Edition)

Both Haim and Feldman appeared as themselves in this comedy starring David Spade as a washed-up child actor trying to regain the spotlight.

Crank 2: High Voltage (2009)

A high intensity, heart pumpin' movie in which Haim cameos as Randy, one of Eve's (Amy Smart) coworkers from the seedy little strip club they both work at.

I remember LOVING License to Drive! I totally remember reading in Bop or Tiger Beat that Corey Haim was only 15 years old and not really allowed to drive the car, so all the driving seenes actually had a stunt driver crouched down in the car with Haim handling the pedals while he steered--- or something like that--its was a long time ago, but stuck with me :)

The only thing I remember from License to Drive was the scene where the tester made Haim drive up a steep hill, saying that if he spilled the cup of coffee that was teetering on the dashboard he would fail. I definitely have to go back and watch that again!
