I don’t think Michael Copon should play Jacob. I mean The Scorpion King 2 was not good at ALL. I think Taylor should still be in it. I mean Taylor has been waiting for New Moon, && he’s wanted to play Jacob in New Moon && the other sequels[if they make them] sine like almost this whole year! I do like Tylor but after seeing him with the weight gain of 19 pounds it has just proven my point MORE that NO MATTER how much weight or muscle he gains he still Just looks like a 16 year old boy that worked out alot.Plus,his voisce sounds like he is 13 and hasnt hit puberty. Then after those weeks (because hJacob has just transfromed)when Bella hasnt heard anything from him in a while and she goes to Jacobs house on the “rescue mission” to confront Jacob…Bring on the New and Improved older looking Jacob Black! Michael really seems like a nice guy, but he’s not Jacob. Taylor is perfect for the part! He’s the same age as Jacob and really looks the the part. He’s of Native American descent, so I can see him as a part of the Quileute tribe. Michael is 26 and Filipino, which means he’s too old and doesn’t exactly look like he could be part of a Native American tribe. Taylor just does a great job of looking like a young, teenage boy that’s into an older girl. It just works out so well…plus, Taylor was in Twilight. They can’t just pretend like that never happened and get someone else for New Moon. It’s not consistent. I think they should just keep things the way they are. I love the cast and any replacements would really be unnecessary.

I’m a huge Twilight fan and I think Michael would be a great Jacob. I don’t think it’s possible for them to make Taylor look older and bigger. In New Moon, Jacob grows over 6 feet tall!! Michael would be the best fit for an older Taylor. Who knows…. Hopefully they’ll keep Taylor in the beginning of New Moon before he transforms.

All of a sudden this Michael Copon comes out of no where and thinks he can take Taylors spot! I DONT THINK SO! Taylor=Jacob!!! New Moon with me nothing without Taylor as Jacob! So what if he is young, so is the character of Jacob. Jacob in New Moon only just turned 16 and Taylor is 16 in real life. It wouldnt make sense if an 18 year old,Michael Copon, played the part of Jacob! The movie will lose so many ratings if they change all the characters for the 2nd movie.

I’m a huge Twilight fan (of the mom kind). In fact, New Moon is my favorite of the series, and Jacob my favorite character.
That being said, I’m seriously annoyed at all this and to be honest, Twilight fans are driving me away from it all.
Seriously people, get a freaking grip! It’s a freaking movie. Taylor is an actor, so it’s Copon and any other possible choice to play Jacob. You people behave like Taylor is your son or something.
Jacob is supposed to change from 15 to 20-something years old. It’s not about special effects, it’s about looking mature. And Taylor will never look like 25 or so yo.
Not counting that lusting over a 15 yo kid, is, in the least, disgusting and shit.

Michael would make a great Jacob Black. He has the acting experience working with some CGI. He tall which in the second book Jacob grows to 6′4″ after he transform then at the end of book he is close to 6′7″ because he is becoming an alpha wolf. To continue shooting from angles will visually make the film seem off.Michael has the weight also behinds him and he also is older. I really wish Taylor the best, but this is the biz he choose and allowances due to friendship does not make strong box office.

I’ve read the books and he jus portrays the character of the Jacob Black in New Moon perfectly because I’ve read the books all 4 and Jacob changes, ages, matures and grows up quite alot from Twilight to New Moon and i think that Michael helps to make that change seein how he has an older and more mature look than that of Taylor, even though i think Taylor was perfectly casted for Twilight the changes and maturity and growing up that Jacob as a character does throught the two movies is a much better role to be displayed by Michael, i relly wud enjoy seein him as Jacob in the New Moon !

Don’t let his kind attitude here fool you. Watch his episodes in One Tree Hill as Felix – that character was practically to Brooke and Lucas what Jacob is to Bella and Edward for a while. He loved Brooke, so his sweet side would show towards her, but he could be an ass to others. He could easily play the part.
And Steven Strait said that he’s not into playing in another teen franchise type of thing. Probably because of how The Covenant turned out.

i think the director is just right to replace Taylor by Michael for the new moon coz in new moon jacob black already matured and became much bigger and taller….so Taylor do not suit in terms of pysical appearace on what describes of Keacob Black in new moon.

I am really sick and tired of all this negativity! People grow up or re-read the book…It states that Jacob Black is to look about 26 (same age as Michael in real life) How can you say Taylor did a great job as Jacob when he only had 4 short scenes and each time he was on he fidgeting! Honestly, do you think that even with the movie magic (CGI) would make Taylor look mature without looking fake? Be realistic! Anyways if they do keep Taylor do you think the movie will come out in November since he is the main character in New Moon….No because he is an underage actor with limited hours per day to shoot! Do your homework! Also, don’t bash on Michael Copon for being REAL! It’s called friendly competition and he did say he respected Taylor’s work.

The only way Taylor can do this is if they used a lot of special effects and CG LMAO!
