The highly anticipated movie Speed Racer bombed at the box office this weekend.

Speed Racer, based on a 1960’s cartoon, grossed a mere $6.6 million on opening night, May 9th.

And is expected to cap out the weekend at an estimated $23 million. Only half of what the film makers were hoping for. Iron Man remains at No. 1 grossing an estimated $48 million this weekend, bringing its total to about $174.6 million since its May 2nd opening.
