Steven Seagal Not Trying Anything New - 'Urban Justice' Review...

Urban Justice is your basic revenge story. Seagal plays an older, fatter version of himself on a mission to avenge the murder of his son in beautiful Compton, California. Seagal is undeniably past his prime now, although it's still fun to watch him cruising solo through the streets of east LA smacking gangsters around. It's pretty sad when they give him too much slang, though. He's a middle aged father so it's a little off-putting when they have him rolling the streets and talking like a punk 19-year-old gangster, regardless of his ever-present Dark and Dangerous Past.

He's basically Rambo, patrolling gang-infested streets alone and, as they say, bringing fists to gunfights, but he's Seagal, he can get away with that. See what's going on in the picture on the movie poster? Have a little gander at that for a few seconds and you can pretty much figure out what the whole movie plays like, although I would by lying if I said that there wasn't something here for Seagal fans and for people who enjoy seeing an aging and widening Aikido master patrolling the streets and whipping the asses of a lot of smart-ass gangsters. Unfortunately, other than that the only reason to watch it might be to see what Seagal looks like these days. He can still fight, but Urban Justice is no Out for Justice.
