Teen Wolf Remake in the Works?
Remember the 1985 hit Teen Wolf starring Michael J. Fox? A modern remake may be underway. Warner Bros secured the rights to the series five or six years ago and is now in the early stages of development of a remake, searching for writers to draft the new script.I have to confess: I love Teen Wolf. I know it's probably one of the worst movies ever made, but I own the DVD, and I can never bring myself to change the channel when I stumble upon it on TV. But now Warner Bros is looking to remake the classic film, and I don't approve.
Sorry, but the main appeal of this movie is an adorable 24-year-old, plaid-clad, van-dancing, canine-transforming Michael J. Fox. The 1987 sequel, Teen Wolf Too, is another guilty pleasure of mine, but that's because I love Jason Bateman almost as much as I love Michael J. Fox (which, by the way, is a lot). Unless the remake stars these two, I think I'll pass on seeing this one.
It's not like the original movie has a lot of dignity to maintain, but I think most would agree when I say that a remake is a bad idea. I doubt modern audiences can appreciate a film about a hormonal high school werewolf, so, Warner Bros, let Twilight take care of the cheesy werewolf plots, stop with the remakes, and leave Teen Wolf alone!
