For most of the Twilight cast, it was only when they were cast in the film that anyone even knew who they were.  However, every one of them had acting jobs before Twilight when they were still trying to get their careers off the ground.

Robert Pattinson:

Before he became Edward Cullen and before women everywhere become “Robsessed” Robert Pattinson was probably best known for his role in the fourth Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, playing the ill-fated Cedric Diggory.

He was also cast alongside Reese Witherspoon playing her son in the bomb of a movie, Vanity Fair.

Kristen Stewart:

K-Stew’s first real role was in 2002’s Panic Room playing Jodie Foster’s daughter.  This role actually gained Kristen a lot of attention and she went on to be cast in tons of other films because of it.

A few years later, a very blonde Kristen was the lead in The Land of Women with Meg Ryan, in which she got to make out with Adam Brody! (Lucky girl!!!)

Taylor Lautner:

Taylor Lautner also started off his acting career at a very young age, his first big role being in the popular kids film “The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl 3-D“!

He then was cast as Alyson Stoner’s love interest in Cheaper By the Dozen 2.  Look at how cute and tiny he was before all the muscles!!! (Not that I’m complaining about the muscles or anything…)

Nikki Reed:

Nikki Reed’s breakout role was in the popular 2003 indie film, which she WROTE and starred in alongside fellow breakout actress Evan Rachel Wood, Thirteen.

Her next big role was in Lord’s of Dogtown where she played Emile Hirsh’s girlfriend:

Kellan Lutz:

Kellan Lutz has basically made a career of being that random surfer/burnout/jock dude in teen movies before he was cast in Twilight.

He started out in HBO’s mockumentary series “The Comeback” starring Lisa Kudrow, but eventually that was cancelled and Kellan was featured in the gymnastics movie Stick It! as well as the surprisingly cute Accepted starring Justin Long, which he can be seen in below:

Kellan has also been a pretty successful model from a pretty young age:

Most recently, Kellan was in the remake of the horror film Prom Night alongside Brittany Snow.

Ashley Greene:

Ashley Greene probably had the least acting experience of any of the cast before she was given the role of Alice Cullen in Twilight.

The most notable thing she had on her resume was a short speaking role in King of California with Evan Rachel Wood:

Ashley also had an appearance in a Punk’d episode in which Justin Long was the target of the prank:

Jackson Rathbone:

Jackson Rathbone had a pretty skimpy resume as well, but he did have a notable appearance on The OC as Kaitlyn’s love interest Justin.

Peter Facinelli:

Before he played Carlisle Cullen in Twilight, Peter Facinelli was in one of my favorite movies of all time, as one of my favorite characters of all time.  He played Mike Dexter in the infamous 1998 party film, Can’t Hardly Wait!

He has also been in the shows “Fastlane” “Damages” “Six Feet Under” and the recent “Nurse Jackie”.

Also something to note, he’s married to 90210’s Jennie Garth and they have three kids together!  So cute!

Elizabeth Reaser:

Before she was cast as the Vampire matriarch, Esme Cullen, Elizabeth Reaser was in various films and TV shows including The Family Stone and Grey’s Anatomy, which she can be seen in below:
