And the New "Nashville Star" is...
Melissa Lawson! Congratulations is due to the 32- year-old contestant from Arlington, Texas, who became the winner of "Nashville Star" last night.
As a result, Melissa gets a recording contract with Warner Brothers, a chance to perform at the Beijing Olympics, and a Toyota Tundra pick-up truck.
A pick-up truck and an Olympic performance? An interesting prize!
Melissa is a working mother with 5 sons, which seems to us like a woman well-deserving of this prize. Since auditioning for the show, she has also lost 45 pounds. Good for you, girl!
John Rich, one of the judges/mentors on the show along with Jewel and Jeffery Steele, will also produce the record.
The runners up, Gabe Garcia and Shawn Mayer, put up a good fight, but in the end, Melissa had the heart to win.
So once again--Congratulations, Melissa! We hope you have great things in store for country music.
