i think the consumer knows whats good and bad and they dont buy into the bs and over hyped artist anymore. things are going back into the times where real artitsts are making noise and sellling lots of albums. there is a new site i just found which is trying to bring music back to the artists and creativity. its a dope site. http://www.musicolio.com/
i just want an artist to believe in. i dont think that is a lot to ask

It's difficult for ANYONE who isn't Jay-Z or Coldplay to actually sell their records in this new age for the music industry. Most artists only start to make $ from touring and endorsement deals. It evens the playing filed for upcoming artists, but it this new landscape makes it increasingly impossible for artists to make a profit or even break even off of waht they do best...write and record quality music. Speaking as an artist, nothing is more frustrating than having people know who you are, know your music, but not be willing to help you stay afloat financially by purchasing your art. The industry as a whole needs to find a new business model in this shareware society we're in.

so just because you write good music means you should be rich? and why would you blame the industry for the way these artists get paid? what happened to doing it for the love of making music? and what about all the other talented people working in their professions and not making much money. teachers, cops, the people who make your lunch every day? cry me a river jay.
