Nick Jonas on the Cover of VMAN

Nick Jonas is taking steps to distance himself from the squeaky clean image that skyrocketed him into fame and damned if we ain't eating it right up! In a new interview and magazine cover for VMAN, he is definitely showing us his grown up darker side. His departure from the Jonas Brothers Band to expand into a solo project has 'tweens everywhere shaking in their boots. But fear not, as we reported earlier, JBB is not breaking up. Just think of this as a bonus to your Jonas Brothers fix. More to enjoy as it were.
How he looks to the pioneers of music to inspire himself
“My real musical discovery started when I was 10 with Stevie Wonder and the Jackson 5, and acts that I connected with because they were young when they were doing it, like me,” says Nick. “Then I kind of came into my own a couple of years later, I found new artists that shaped my musical landscape. For instance, Kings of Leon played a big part in that.”
On the new direction he is taking with 'Nick Jonas and the Administration'
“Yeah, there are songs that aren’t necessarily happy songs. They more make you think. That’s intriguing to me, just as a beautiful but sad movie might be.”
On how his faith has influenced his music
“My faith plays a big part in who I am: a Christian guy playing pop-rock music. I’m in a pop-rock band, not a Christian band,” he says. “I admire Kings of Leon. I think their records are amazing. Just from hanging out with them I can say they’re good guys. It’s cool to see that they get to do what they love. But I think they clearly have an appreciation for where they came from, and it has shaped who they are.”
