Ziggy Marley U.R.G.E's us to LOVE

This past weekend the JaclynSphere was rocked when I got to observe a live performance by Ziggy Marley, which took place in front of Barnes and Noble on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California. Ziggy performed a few songs from his latest album, "Family Time" which is music for families-both his own and our united world family. He even performed "Redemption Song" by his father, music legend, Bob Marley. Be sure to check out my interview with Ziggy.

[/caption]Ziggy really reinforces the fact that as a united world family and despite our divisions of language, religion and race, we all inhabit this Earth and we need to remember that. Each of our own actions impact the life of another. So be sure to utilize some simple tips to save our world resources.
As a true example, Ziggy himself supports many humanitarian efforts including Little Kids Rock, which provides musical instruments and music lessons to children in public schools. Ziggy also founded U.R.G.E, Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment, which his website states is "a non-profit organization that benefits a wide range of charitable children's causes in Jamaica and other developing nations."
You too can take a lesson from Ziggy Marley and get involved! Check out his website to learn more about his album and U.R.G.E http://www.ziggymarley.com
Ziggy himself even asked me what I do to be sustainable so here are some tips straight from the Jaclynsphere.
- Recycle. This is something I am VERY adamant about. I save everything-cans, plastic, glass. Every 1-2 weeks, I either donate the recyclables to an organization that can utilize them or I take them to the recycling center myself. If I acquire magazines, I take them to a local beauty school where they will be utilized by students for collages and other projects.
- Educate yourself. Everyday I learn something new about being green via the Internet, and through the many people I come into contact with at events I attend. A good resource is www.globalgreen.org
- Volunteer and give back to your community. Whether you can be a Big Brother/Big Sister or you can participate in a neighborhood clean up, you can make a difference by getting involved. I personally mentor for Step Up Women's Network but there are several organizations that need your help! Check out www.idealist.org
All in all, we just want to thank Ziggy Marley for sharing his message of LOVE with our Hollywire community! Now go out, get up, stand up and in the words of Ziggy, "export LOVE!"
