Naomi Campbell covered her face in shame as she entered the courthouse this morning. She wore shades, a dark suit and was flanked by a guardian. The 38-year-old Campbell arrived at Uxbridge Magistrates Court in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes and pushed her way through hordes of paparazzi and press without addressing their questions.
Remember the story of the crazy cat-walk model? Back in April, Naomi was arrested for throwing a fit aboard a British Airways flight after she found out that her carry-on luggage went missing. She was removed from the plane and held for eight hours at the airport police station before being released. She has since been banned from the airline.
According to London’s Daily Telegraph, when Naomi finally made it inside the court house, she copped to six charges in total—three counts of assaulting a constable, one of disorderly conduct likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress and two of using threatening, abusive words or behavior to cabin crew.
She pleaded guilty to assaulting two police officers after causing a raucous aboard her BA flight at London’s Heathrow Airport, charges that could land her up to six months behind bars. She also admitted she used threatening and abusive language to cabin crew — another public order offense.
Outside the court, Campbell’s rep, Alan Edwards, told reporters the tempestuous model acknowledged her role in the row.
“She feels what happened was regrettable and she has come to court today to put her side of the story,” he said.
Update on Naomi’s sentence:
She was ordered to complete 200 hours of community service. She will also have to pay $400 to each officer she attacked and $300 to the air captain.
