Griffy hit his 600th home run in the top of the first inning at Monday night’s game against the Florida Marlins.  Mark Hendrickson was pitching for the Marlins.  Ken Griffy Jr joins, Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714), Willie Mays (660), and Sammy Sosa (609) as one of baseball’s highest home run hitters.

However, for one fan the excitement of witnessing a great moment in baseball history didn’t last long.  Baseball fan Justin Kimball claims that he caught Griffy’s 600th home run ball and that another fan stole it from him.  Kimball stated that he had placed the ball in his wool cap and then another fan ripped the hat from his hand and ran off with the ball.  The M.L.B. authenticated one ball for a male fan who would only give his first name, Joe.  Miami police are reviewing the video tape from the home run to see if Kimball is the rightful owner.

That would be upsetting to have a ball like that stolen from you.  Who knows how much a Griffy fan would pay for a little piece of baseball history.
