Russell Brand Angers Jordan Sparks With Purity Ring Comment

At the VMA'S last night, host Russell Brand made some comments about the Jonas Brothers and their purity rings. He said that it was a shame that the Jonas Brothers weren't using all of their advantages of being famous, like scoring lots of chicks.

Jordan Sparks, another purity ring wearer, apparently took great offense to the jokes, and right before she and John Legend announced T.I.'s performance, she felt the need to say, "I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It's not bad to wear a promise ring. Because not everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut."

Brand did return to the stage to offer somewhat of an apology:
"I didn't meant to take it lightly," the host said about purity rings. "I don't want to piss off teenage fans." Still, Brand, whose apology soon morphed into a series of off-color jokes, said, "Promise rings, I'm well up for it. [But] a bit of sex, it never hurt anybody."
