Johnny Jackson, known in the urban side of the music industry as Johnny J, committed suicide in the LA County jail Oct.3rd. Though, I'm just hearing about this now. Best known for his production on legendary Tupac Shakur's (2Pac) albums 'All Eyez on Me' and 'Me Against the World' was born in Juárez, Mexico, in 1969 and raised in South Central Los Angeles by his adopted parents whom his father is black and his mother is Mexican-American. Crazy how people just don't know who he is like producers Timbaland, Swizz Beats, Detail, etc. When people think of Justin Timberlake, they think of Timbaland, when they think of Biggie, they think of Diddy; however, when people think of Tupac, they think of Dr. Dre, which really wasn't the case--it was Johnny J to all that really knew Death Row and 2Pac.

Johnny J ran Klock Work Entertainment and had worked with many hip hop, rap and R&B artists throughout his career. Before going to prison, Johnny J was working with local, unknown groups in Los Angeles, such as the Hux, and spearheading an album by Tatyana Ali from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

The hip hop producer Johnny J also helped rapper Candyman become the first hip hop artist on Epic Records to go platinum with his work on the classic track "Knockin' Boots." He was a great talent to have lost.
