A Tribute to Natasha Richardson
As you know, acclaimed actress Natasha Richardson, the wife of Liam Neeson and daughter of legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave, died on Wednesday as a result of a fatal head injury sustained in a skiing accident. She was taking beginning ski lessons in Quebec when she fell in what seemed to be a minor accident. She was laughing and joking with her instructor after the accident but began to complain about headaches within the hour. Liam was in Toronto filming the movie Chloe but rushed to Quebec when he heard of the accident.
Natasha was soon pronounced brain dead and was then transferred to New York. She was met by friends and family and taken off life support Wednesday evening.
Her family has acting roots extending as far back as the late 1930s, when her grandmother and grandfather, Sir Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson, began their storied careers, and she was also the daughter of the late Tony Richardson (multiple Oscar-winning director, who took the Best Director and Best Picture Oscars for his work on Tom Jones in 1963) and Vanessa Redgrave, who after more than 40 years of acting now continues to appear in the television series "Nip/Tuck" as the mother of Julia MacNamara, played by Natasha's sister, Jolie Richardson.
A quick glance through her impressive filmography and her continually successful theater career will show the caliber of actress that the world loses with her death. She is survived by her husband Liam and two sons, Michael and Daniel.
