Pregnant Woman is Pregnant Again!?!

Posted on 26 September 2009 by Loretta

A pregnant woman in Arkansas got quite the surprise when she and her husband found out they were pregnant AGAIN!!

Pregnant-Couple

The couple amazingly conceived a second child when she was already pregnant with her first.  The woman’s initial ultrasound revealed only one amniotic sac, but the doctors later discovered a second heartbeat of a much younger developing fetus.  After undergoing more ultrasounds they discovered a second sac.

The fetuses are believed to be about 2 1/2 weeks apart in age, which puts the younger child at risk of being born prematurely.  Premature babies can face a wide range of health problems, from lung development to low birth weight.

If all goes well and the children are born on their due dates, the first child will be born in 2009 and the second child 2 1/2 weeks later in 2010.

WOW!! That is amazing. I wonder if they can deliver them on their own due dates.

  2. Hannah Says:

They will probably have to be delivered at the same time because thedelivery of one will probably put stress on the 2nd child and 2 1/2 weeks if the first one makes it full term isn’t bad.

Crazy! I am no nurse, but this almost seems impossible, first to even be happening, but then also for the survival of the babies and the health of the mother.

I thought she couldn’t get pregnant if she was on top! Doesn’t Gravity take care of those things?????

This is not uncommon, the same thing happened to my grandmother, one baby was in fact smaller than the other however they were both able to be delivered at the same time and both developed normally. It was about the same amount of time too, between 2 and 3 weeks.
