At the VMA’S last night, host Russell Brand made some comments about the Jonas Brothers and their purity rings. He said that it was a shame that the Jonas Brothers weren’t using all of their advantages of being famous, like scoring lots of chicks.
Jordan Sparks, another purity ring wearer, apparently took great offense to the jokes, and right before she and John Legend announced T.I.’s performance, she felt the need to say, “I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It’s not bad to wear a promise ring. Because not everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut.”
Brand did return to the stage to offer somewhat of an apology:
“I didn’t meant to take it lightly,” the host said about purity rings. “I don’t want to piss off teenage fans.” Still, Brand, whose apology soon morphed into a series of off-color jokes, said, “Promise rings, I’m well up for it. [But] a bit of sex, it never hurt anybody.”

Yeah but Jordan Sparks staying a virgin isn’t really her choice, it’s men in general.

If you decide to put it out in the pubic domain that you wear a purity ring you have to expect that people will comment on it. I don’t really need to know that jordin sparks wears a purity ring, it’s her choice and may be good for her to do so but do i need to know that…NO! If they don’t want people to comment on it….they really shouldn’t tell everyone.
Having morals and values is not dependent upon you remaining a virgin until marriage!

Sure, you’re right, Alee, having morals and values is not dependent upon deciding to remain a virgin until marriage but at least Jordin Sparks (or whoever it may be) is standing up for something she believes in. All that I see and read about lately are people in Hollywood getting drunk and sleeping around. I sure wish more people would stand up for something they think is right, regardless of what it is.

I agree that it’s great to stand up for what you believe in CeCe. What i don’t agree with is sharing the fact that you wear a ‘purity ring’ with the whole world and then getting annoyed when people comment on it. I mean, the jonas brothers may well intend on remaining virgins until they marry but why not keep such a sacred vow to themselves. Some would argue that to tell america is to secure publicity, plus the sales of their music to one of the largest demographics in the usa…the white, middle class christian. It’s certainly a shame that in order for jordan sparks to stand up for what she believes in she feels the need to refer to those that do have pre-marrital sex as sluts. Unfortunately as a result, A message that was supposed to be ‘it’s a good thing to wait’ became a crude, insensitive insult to those that do not.

Finally Someone standing on Godly Principles in Public.Purity is the number one cause for marriages being torn apart both because men and woman don’t hold themselves accountable before God.There is a movement Nationwide for Purity to sweep the Churches and God’s accountability is coming sooner than anyone knows.Go Jordan for the Faith. As for men making the decision of her purity.Thats bull!Every woman has to make that choice on her own not a man making that choice for her!She is a child of the KING!
