Trailer For DJ AM’s “Gone Too Far” MTV Documentary

Posted on 09 October 2009 by Tammy Cakes

Here is the trailer for DJ AM’s MTV documentary “Gone Too Far”. The 1-hour show premieres Monday, October 12th at 10pm ET/PT.

The show chronicles young people between the ages of 20-25 who are battling addiction and are offered a chance at recovery through DJ AM’s mentoring.

Although Adam lost his battle with addiction, the Goldsteins gave their permission for the seven episodes to air.

“After careful consideration we have decided to air the show,” AM’s family explains in a statement. “Adam felt strongly that by doing this series he could help other addicts who were at a crisis point to get sober. Adam was fully aware that if it were not for his own sobriety he never would have achieved the level of success and happiness he had found. Helping people in their recovery was a huge part of Adam’s life. It is our hope through airing this show that people will get to see the side of Adam that we knew and loved, not just the celebrity DJ, but the honest and caring person who gave so much of himself to help others. The decision to air the show has been difficult, but we do this with the profound belief that it will inspire others to seek help.”

DJ AM Reality Series Is Still A Go

Posted on 24 September 2009 by Tammy Cakes

dj-am-docu-series-gone-too-farWhen DJ AM died, MTV was left with hours and hours of video footage of the late DJ’s docu-series Gone Too Far, and they have been contemplating whether it would be appropriate to air the material or not.

Gone Too Far is an “Intervention” style series where AM a sober and experienced coach mentors troubled drug addicts. The problem that MTV has is whether it would be in good judgment for them to air a series were AM mentors addicts when clearly, when he tragically passed away, he was still one himself?

The network refuses to comment on the status of the show yet, but sources at the MTV studio believe that if the series airs, it can still have potential to relay AM’s anti-drug message as intended.

Eight episodes of the Gone Too Far series had already been shot three days before his body was discovered on August 28.

Just days before AM’s body was found in his NY apartment, his AA sponsor convinced him to go back to rehab, but AM wanted to wait until he finished his gig in Vegas that weekend. Unfortunately he passed a few days later, never making it back to rehab.

The show’s original premiere date was October 5th, but that is clearly going to be moved and probably won’t be launching any time soon at this point.

Do you think it’s a wise decision for MTV to air this documentary?

Solange Knowles: “I hope people don’t taint his legacy…..because there isn’t any concrete proof yet.  That guy was a walking miracle.”

Samantha Ronson: “I still don’t have the words- but these 2 taught me everything.  RT @iamMarkRonson: http://twitpic.com/foj0y - forever and ever and a day”

DJ AM’s Death Was An Accident Not Suicide

Posted on 31 August 2009 by Loretta

It looks like DJ AM, Adam Goldstein, died from an accidental overdose and not suicide.

DJ-AM

According to TMZ,

Our sources say DJ AM, a recovering addict, developed a dependency to Xanax and other benzodiazepines (a group of drugs used to treat anxiety) as a direct result of the plane crash a year ago. We’re told AM (aka Adam Goldstein) developed a tremendous anxiety over flying — something he had to do frequently for his job.

We’re told doctors began prescribing Xanax and other anti-anxiety medications to relieve his fear, but the benzos triggered a relapse into addiction. We’re told benzos are particularly dicey for recovering addicts.

Our sources say DJ AM’s relapse was “recent” — he was not abusing for a prolonged period of time before his death.

We’re also told the OD had “absolutely nothing to do with his recent breakup.”

Our sources say the evidence strongly indicates cause of death will be a combination of crack cocaine and benzos.

It’s really sad that another star lost their life to drugs.  It’s been a rough year for Hollywood.

What do you think?

DJ AM’s Death Remains A Mystery

Posted on 29 August 2009 by Loretta

DJ-AM-Adam-GoldsteinEven though his autopsy was completed on Saturday, August 30th, Adam “DJ AM Goldstein’s cause of death is still unknown.

The New York City Medical Examiner stated, “The cause of death was inconclusive because we need to do additional testing.  The testing would include toxicology and tissue testing.  We don’t expect any results for several weeks.”

Goldstein, did have a history of drug abuse, but he recently stated that he had been sober for 11 1/2 years and worked with other addicts.  However, some believe that the stress from his near fatal plane crash and his girlfriend leaving him may have been to much for him to handle causing him to use again.

Travis-Barker-DJ-AMTravis Barker, Adam’s friend and fellow crash survivor, tweeted,

Rest In Peace my brother, this really f–s me up.  I’ll never forget everything we’ve been thru and every time i play drums i’ll think of you.

U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being…. Don’t know how i am gonna play 2night but i am for AM.  My brother is gone.  i lover u and miss u, i’ll never forget all the good times we had.

DJ AM will surely be missed.

Sources tell TMZ prescription pill bottles were found near DJ AM’s body this afternoon.

We’re told his body was found at around 5 PM at his apartment in New York City — he was shirtless and wearing sweatpants.

UPDATE 8:10 PM ET
: Sources say a pipe commonly used to smoke drugs was also found inside the bedroom.

UPDATE 7:51 PM ET: We’re told his body has not been removed from the apartment.

***************************

What the F***? This is crazy.

TMZ is reporting that DJ AM aka Adam Goldstein, was found dead this afternoon at 5:20p.m.  in NYC.

DJ AM supposedly hadn’t been heard from or seen in a couple of days. His friend went to go check on him, but there was no response after continuously knocking on his apartment door.

His friend called the police, who broke in the door to find DJ AM’s lifeless body.

Back in September of last year, he and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker survived a horrible plane crash in South Carolina. Four people tragically died in that crash. DJ AM and Travis were the only survivors.
