Ex-call girl Ashley Dupre is back and she wants everyone to know that she is a “normal girl” and is trying to put the Eliot Spitzer scandal behind her.
You can catch Ashley Dupre this Friday on 20/20 talking to Diane Sawyer about the whole incident and read her interview in People magazine.
In her interview, Ashley says, “I’m 23 years old. I want to do music, to do fashion, to write books – there’s so many things.”
She also claims she had no idea who Eliot Spitzer was when she met him. “Some guys, they want to have conversations and really get to know each other. With him, it clearly was not like that. It was more of a transaction. Strictly business. I was there for a purpose – not to wonder who [he] could be.”
Ashley Alexandrea Dupre has decided to drop her $10 million lawsuit against Joe Francis on Thursday, July 3rd. She claims that the dropped was a way to “eliminate all negativity from her life and focus on the positive.” According to her lawyer Richard C. Wolfe,
She has prospects for many exciting new projects and is looking forward to stating a new chapter.
Dupre was suing Joe Francis, who is the founder of Mantra Films, Inc the company that produces Girls Gone Wild, after he planned on capitalizing off of some footage of Dupre celebrating her 18th birthday with GGW. Francis had originally offered Dupre $1 million to join GGW but retracted his offer once he discovered that she had already appeared on the show in 2003.
Friday night Francis issued a statement saying, “the truth invariably comes out, as I knew it would in this case. I am happy to, once again, be completely vindicated.”
Ashley Dupre filed a lawsuit yesterday against Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis for $10 million for exploiting her name and image for profit.
Dupre claims that while vacationing in Florida in 2003, GGW reps came up to her and offered her alcohol before inducing her to expose her breasts and sign a wavier. All of this while she was underage- 17.
Joe Francis is “amazed” that she is suing him because the tape was never released because she was underage at the time. He does say that it “doesn’t matter” if she was underage, since she showed false identification and claimed to be older:
“It is incomprehensible that Ms. Dupré could claim she did not give her consent to be filmed by Girls Gone Wild, when in fact we have videotape of her giving consent, while showing her identification,” Francis told Usmagazine.com…“She’s seeking $10 Million for topless photos taken in front of a room full of people, including two newspapers and multiple crews we had in the room,” he said. “These images were taken in public places and contain no sexual contact. We expect to triumph in this matter and continue to offer the best and hottest girls.”
Joe Francis has just recently been released from Nevada jail last month and continues to be facing federal tax evasion charges in that state.
He is currently being charged in Florida for allegedly filming underage girls in Panama City. He claims that he is not liable because the girls lied about their ages.
Dupre has not made a public appearance since the Eliot Spitzer scandal broke 6 weeks ago. She has ambitions of becoming a pop star, and is said to have received over $200,000 for downloads of her songs. The NY Daily News reports today that she has a new manager for her music career and is shopping around for a label that will have her. Her Myspace has received over 10 million views.
Some of you might be sick of seeing the face of this famous call-girl, but after this lovely Girls Gone Wild footage showed up, we didn’t think you would mind a little more. Ashley Dupre, or Elliot Spitzer’s call girl to most, apparently had no problem shedding it all to the GGW camera man in exchange for her free GGW tank top. Well, it seems her hourly rate has gone up a little since then, but that doesn’t stop us from getting the show for free.
