It really comes as no surprise that they were chosen.  They are two of the most controversial people in the entertainment world today.

Kate Gosselin, Tyler Perry and Sarah Palin are also rumored to be on the list.

Who do you think was the most fascinating person of 2009?  Does anyone else think it’s funny/weird that Barbara Walters wears matching outfits with her guest?

Green Life Is An Ever Changing Climate

Posted on 19 August 2009 by Jaclyn Mullen

Recycle. We hear that word often but why do we recycle? Yes it is good for the environment but how is it good? Recycling reduces the green house gas emissions that cause Global Warming.

why-recycle

Ok so maybe that’s a bit technical for Hollywire but making an impact on our Earth is as easy as: running all your errands in one trip, recycling, buying and driving a smaller car, and even utilizing natural light while keeping your lights off or limited during the day. These were all great tips I got from Chelsea Maxwell, a former climate adviser to now-retired Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) *Fun facts-he was briefly married to Elizabeth Taylor and he once dated Barbara Walters.

Chelsea works for the Clark Group which provides Environmental Counseling and Lobbying services out of Washington, D.C.

Pretty enough to grace Hollywood herself, Chelsea is experienced and passionate regarding climate issues. “Most people think this issue is so big, what can they do,” she told me during our interview. “If we have one person that’s driving one day less a month and they tell their friends and their behavior influences others, over time the more and more people that partake, it will make a diffrerence.”

Some of the issues we may expect to see eventually as Global Warming takes its toll are:

-Shifts in agriculture

-Rise in sea level which impacts coastal towns and their tourism dollars

-Carbon will continue to accumulate in the atmosphere

Overall these things would mean a further loss to our economy.

In the words of Chelsea Maxwell, small steps are a start. “Buy energy saving light bulbs, start utilizing a reusable water bottle, recycle. Get multiple uses out of tupperware or plastic bags. Some grocery stores are now encouraging you to bring a reusable bag.”

Meeting with Chelsea certainly impacted me and reminded me how we do have the choice, power and ability to make changes. It starts with an action such as recycling. Take it from me in Los Angeles where the celebs live and the air is smoggy. We can’t take our natural resources and Earth for granted.

Kanye West’s GREAT Interview on “The View”

Posted on 11 June 2009 by Lexacahn

Kanye West was just on The View, and I swear it’s like he’s gotten a complete personality makeover.  I have never seen him so calm, composed and well-spoken.  When he’s not screaming and throwing fits over winning or not winning awards, you can see that he actually is incredibly thoughtful and intellectual, and in my opinion really deserves everything that he has.

In the interview he talks about his mother’s death, the risk he took making 808’s and Heartbreak, and he even comments on Kris Allen’s cover of Heartless on American Idol (go to the 4:50 mark to see Kanye’s super cute reaction to Kris’s cover!)

Check it out below!

Patrick Swayze’s First Interview Since Diagnosed With Pancreatic Cancer

Posted on 07 January 2009 by Tammy Cakes

Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa Neimi recently gave and interview to Barbara Walters, his first interview since he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and it will air tonight 10 pm ET on ABC.

In the interview, he speaks candidly about his prognosis after living for a year with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

He has defied the statistics and predictions of “trash magazines” that said he should have “already been dead a long time,” but he acknowledged that time may be running out:

“I’d say five years is pretty wishful thinking,” he told Walters. “Two years seems likely if you’re going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I’d better get a fire under it.”

Swayze admits he’s scared, but says he’s waging his battle against cancer “moment to moment.”

“When do you decide the fight isn’t matching up to your quality of life?” he asked. “So far, I’ve got potential for a lot of quality of life.”

You can watch the video and go to abcnews.go.com for more of the interview.

Thomas Beatie is Pregnant Again

Posted on 13 November 2008 by Loretta

Yep, you read that right.  Pregnant Man, Thomas Beatie, is pregnant again!  His first daughter was “born” on June 29th of this year.  Baby #2 is due on June 12th; meaning only 4 months later, and bam!  He’s preggers again!

These kidlets will be less than a year a part!  I guess at the age of 34 he doesn’t want to waste much time–maybe?  Or maybe, more likely, has to do with him not taking testosterone pills while going through pregnancies–keep the female hormones raging all at one time rather than swinging back and forth.

See the Barbara Walters Exclusive interview with the Pregnant Man here.  She’s allowed into their home and has great footage of their family life.  She asks some tough questions on what is a man/woman and what will they tell their little baby girl Susan when she grows up.

Next Tuesday, the 18th, you can see the ONLY documentary on Thomas, his wife, and the final weeks of his first pregnancy on Discovery Health.  The documentary is called, you guessed it, “Pregnant Man.”  It will air at 9:00pm ET/PT.
