Recycle. We hear that word often but why do we recycle? Yes it is good for the environment but how is it good? Recycling reduces the green house gas emissions that cause Global Warming.

Ok so maybe that’s a bit technical for Hollywire but making an impact on our Earth is as easy as: running all your errands in one trip, recycling, buying and driving a smaller car, and even utilizing natural light while keeping your lights off or limited during the day. These were all great tips I got from Chelsea Maxwell, a former climate adviser to now-retired Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) *Fun facts-he was briefly married to Elizabeth Taylor and he once dated Barbara Walters.
Chelsea works for the Clark Group which provides Environmental Counseling and Lobbying services out of Washington, D.C.

Pretty enough to grace Hollywood herself, Chelsea is experienced and passionate regarding climate issues. “Most people think this issue is so big, what can they do,” she told me during our interview. “If we have one person that’s driving one day less a month and they tell their friends and their behavior influences others, over time the more and more people that partake, it will make a diffrerence.”
Some of the issues we may expect to see eventually as Global Warming takes its toll are:
-Shifts in agriculture
-Rise in sea level which impacts coastal towns and their tourism dollars
-Carbon will continue to accumulate in the atmosphere

Overall these things would mean a further loss to our economy.
In the words of Chelsea Maxwell, small steps are a start. “Buy energy saving light bulbs, start utilizing a reusable water bottle, recycle. Get multiple uses out of tupperware or plastic bags. Some grocery stores are now encouraging you to bring a reusable bag.”
Meeting with Chelsea certainly impacted me and reminded me how we do have the choice, power and ability to make changes. It starts with an action such as recycling. Take it from me in Los Angeles where the celebs live and the air is smoggy. We can’t take our natural resources and Earth for granted.
