I’ve never seen Carrie wear the same outfit twice. And trust me, after watching every episode at least four or five times, I would know. I’ve even heard rumors that Sarah Jessica Parker got to keep all of the clothing?? Some of her outfts were a little extreme (anyone remember the tights with kneepads sewn on each knee? And the belt she wore around her bare stomach?), but she always looked great! Below are five outfits that every Sex and the City addict should remember.
The naked dress:
Imagine shimmying yourself into a dress like this, posing for a modeling shoot, then having those pictures blasted on the side of New York City buses. Ah, to be in Carrie Bradshaw’s shoes! (Manolos, to be exact). Not that this dress even needs shoes – the effect of skin on skin is hot as it is. Does everyone remember what happened when she went out that night in this dress??
Carrie on the runway:
Underwear so glamorous that it gets its own model in a New York fashion show can only be designed by Dolce and Gabbana. Carrie’s spill on the runway a few seconds after she emerges does not even ruin the effect of this barely-there lingerie. Granted, it rocks a granny panty style, but the see-through, sequined effect makes for a dazzling piece that should definitely be worn outside the bedroom.
The bubble dress:
Carrie wore this dress to a wedding circa season six and at the time, it didn’t seem too attractive. This was during the time when Sarah Jessica Parker was pregnant and HBO was doing a damn good job hiding it. However, this dress ended up setting the tone for the next big style to hit stores– flowing bubble dresses and skirts, a style that women of all ages embraced for their ability to hide a bloating tummy.
Carrie arrives in Paris:
Commoners such as myself usually wear Uggs and Juicy sweatsuits on long plane rides. Carrie Bradshaw, however, is no fashion commoner. Underneath this sparkled sweater lies a black and white striped dress, with a huge flower of the same pattern pinned on the front - something only Miss Bradshaw can get away with. Her black fedora, perched to the side, is lined with pearls, matching her cream clutch. Not too shabby for a plane ride to Paris!
Carrie’s first night in Paris:
Every girl remembers this dress. When Carrie emerges in this dress, getting ready for her first night in Paris with the “Russian”, I was in love. All I wanted to do was receive an invite to a formal event where I could wear a dress such as this one. Can’t exactly wear a dress like this to the bar down the street – it’s almost too beautiful to be worn. The fluffy petticoat, sequined top, and vintage blue makes for a glamorous combination. Too bad the bastard stood her up L
Countdown to May 30th, when we can keep our eyes out for more memorable fashion cues from Carrie!
