Kellan Lutz Talks Puppy Love

Posted on 17 November 2009 by Chelsea B

Kellan Lutz breaks the silence about his one true love……Who stands at 3ft, drools on occasion, barks often and goes by the name Kola.

On an absolutely adorable cover of Doggie Aficiando, Kellan Lutz and his lovable pup take a pose and you can definitely see the bond between the two.

In the article the Twilight star talks about adopting his dog and how it has changed him as a person:

“I have always been a huge advocate for saving animals, so I found it fitting, when I was ready for something new in my life, to look around the local animal shelters. . . . She looked me in the eyes, bowed and slowly and softly licked my open hand. As I pet this beautiful dog I realized how soft her multi-colored coat was, and felt her desperation for a real home. Our connection was so strong that it was like fate bringing us together. I knew she was the one. That was three years ago.”

Lutz goes on to talk about what he has learned from his trusty, furry pal:

“Kola has taught me to be a man. It’s almost like having your own child. You really have this living animal that really depends on you; I spoil her. I don’t know what kind of life she had before I found her at the pound, but I hope I’ve given her some deserved happiness.”

How cute is that!? I don’t think Kola knows how lucky she really is!

Check out the video below for a behind the scenes look at Kellan and Kola’s photo shoot!

This past January (2009), Norman escaped death after wandering from her California home and avoiding a close-call car collision.

Of her pet pooch, Aniston said:

“You have to say goodbye way too soon. It’s just so sad… It makes me so sad. But their love is unconditional and I love that.”

The adorable actress also has a three-year-old white German shepherd named Dolly.

First Dog, Bo

First Dog Bo

First Dog Bo

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle were trying to keep the news of the first pup on the DL.  But we found out that there is now a first dog in the White House.
Check out the details about the dog:

– the pup was coming from a Texas kennel
– the kennel had sold Senator Ted Kennedy 3 Portuguese Water Dogs in the past, all from the same lineage
– the dog the Obama’s were getting is also from the same lineage as the Kennedy dogs
– the Obama dog was originally sold to a private owner, who returned it
– the dog was named Charlie, but the Obamas planned to rename it
– the dog was going to be “re-homed” to the Obamas from the kennel, and presented to the Obamas by the Kennedy family
– the reason it’s important that the dog was “re-homed” is because the Obamas could not accept the dog as a gift, and re-homing averts the problem.
– the dog will be officially presented to the Obamas by the Kennedys on Tuesday

The Post is now saying the dog was renamed Bo, after Bo Diddley.

The First Dog has Arrived at the White House

Posted on 12 April 2009 by Loretta

It only took President Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle, a little over two months to make good on their puppy promise.

Sasha and Malia’s Portuguese Water Dog, whom they named Bo, was “re-homed” to the Obama’s from a Texas kennel where Senator Ted Kennedy purchased 3 Portuguese Water dogs. The President plans to officially announce the puppy’s arrival on Tuesday.

Possible Pooches for President-Elect Obama and his Family

Posted on 08 November 2008 by Loretta

Due to the fact that his 10 year old daughter Malia is allergic to dogs, President-elect Obama is on the search for a hypoallergenic pooch.  There truly isn’t a non-allergic or hypoallergenic dog because all breeds produce some sort of allergens, however, there are what many considered to be hypoallergenic because they have little to no hair and don’t shed.  Here is my list of some possible hypoallergenic dogs that the new Presidential family may be taking with them to the White House:

A Bichon Frisé, who’s name means curly lap dog, is a small breed of the Bichon type of dog.  They are a playful, sensitive, gentle mannered breed of dog.  Even though they are suitable for people with allergies, because they don’t shed, the potential buyer should first visit with a Bichon and test their individual reaction before purchasing.

The Australian Silky Terrier is an intelligent and curious dog that has the energy to keep up the President-elect Obama’s two young daughters.  The average Silky Terrier is around 10 inches at the withers, and weighs in at about 10 pounds.  Their silky textured coat is virtually non-shedding and odorless, making them hypoallergenic for people with allergies to pet hair.

Then of course there is the Poodle.  Who doesn’t love a Poodle?  They come in all sizes and color and are regarded to as one of the most intelligent breeds of dog.  They are skillful in dog sports, obedience, tracking, and herding.  Poodles have curly non-shedding hair that requires regular grooming.

Next we have a spunky breed of pooch called the Chinese Crested dog.  The Chinese Crested comes in two varieties, “Hairless” and “Powderpuff.”  The hairless has human-like skin that is soft and fur on its paws, tail, and head.  Sam, a famous hairless Chinese Crested dog was named the “World’s Ugliest Dog” from 2003 to 2005.

Last on my list is the always elegant Shih Tzu.  Shih Tzu’s are recognized for their long, flowing, colorful coats and are intelligent, friendly, and energetic.  The average height for a Shih Tzu is 9 to 10 1/2 inches and they weigh between 9 and 16 pounds.  They have little to no shedding, making them a favorite amongst people with allergies.

These are just a few of the hypoallergenic dogs out there.  For the full list visit wikipedia.com.

What breed do you think President-elect Obama will choose?
