Britney Spears had dinner Tuesday night with George Maloof, the owner of the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. It is suspected that they were talking business. Britney wants to star in a huge concert at the Palms. The deal is set to be worth $10 million.
A source told the National Enquirer: “She wants to make a splashy comeback in Las Vegas. He wants the show to be full of high energy and flashy costume changes. She’s like the master at what she does. She’s a lot more experienced than most people. She just has the ‘it’ factor.”
I think what he ment to say was she did have the “it” factor. Brit’s health has improved greatly since the “Gimme More” tragedy. But has her dancing? She seems to be putting in a lot of hours at the dance studio. Hopefully enough to were people will actually pay money to see her moves and hear her lipsinc. For a $10 million dollar show, she better be worth it.
Here are some pictures of Brit shopping on Robertson Blvd yesterday. (Yeah she’s wearing two different outfits.)
The one and only Mariah took over Times Square for a special live performance on Good Morning America this morning, April 25th, to promote her new album, E=MC2, and kick off the show’s Summer Concert Series.
As expected, she created quite a stir. But, beyond all the glitter, there was no gold.
She had a back-up track assisting her, but a slight mishap with timing caught her off guard, making it obvious that the performance was partially lipsynched. The diva was apparently not amused.
The lipsynching was excusable and even expected, especially since she was performing on an outdoor stage on live television. We know the girl can hit the notes, but this performance left me, a Mariah fan since Aquanet hairspray and Exclamation perfume were popular, less than impressed.
Cue flashback:
She carefully walked - well, wiggled - on stage, in a tight pink mini-dress, 6-inch+ heels and large stunna shades, looking fabulous in her new fit and slim figure.
So, the look - hot.
Stage - blinging feast for the eyes.
Background picture of MC - ginormous.
Dancers - on step.
Mariah?
She looked like she could hardly breathe, let alone belt out a ballad in true Mariah fashion. If she were to get down and dirty like the singing diva the world knows and loves, we’d see nothing but thong. She’d tear that mini upstream.
Don’t even get me started on the heels. She hardly moved, besides a bit of head bobbing, hip swaying and knee bending. Not saying you gotta get all Janet up in here, but we know what you’re worth, Mariah. With your voice, you don’t even need all that showy b*llsh*t. Just strut out there in a little black dress and sing it to us, girl!
Okay, let me allow you, the viewer, to be the judge.
She started with her current hit “Touch My Body.”
Of course, Diane and Robin were not going to let her get away before they asked her for the secret to her weight loss success. OMG, yes, please tell us, what’s your secret???
The answer? Exercise and dieting. No. F*ing. Way. Yeah, no way is right. I’m sure the money for those personal trainers, personal chefs, stylists and plastic surgeons had nothing to do with it, right MC?
Again, I am a fan, but how jaded by fame do you have to be to so casually react to the fact they are lighting the f*ing Empire State Building in pink and lavendar in your honor?!
Her second song was “That Chick.”
Then, she ended with a song that was inspired by a personal loss, “Bye Bye.”
FYI: she has a new perfume (A celeb trend. What took you so long, Mariah?) and independent film coming out soon.
The show that has been touted as the “most revolutionary stage experience of the past two decades” and has become the hottest ticket in town has finally arrived.
Kanye West’s Glow in the Dark tour featuring Rihanna, Lupe Fiasco and N.E.R.D., invaded the LA Live Nokia Center on April 21st with a completely sold-out crowd. Among celeb fans in attendance included Jaime Foxx, Pete Wentz, newly-pregnant Ashley Simpson, and Gwen Stefani.
The concert offers more than just a performance of songs, but instead, creates a storyline with the music. Think: hip-hopera… in space!
Confused? Here’s the jist…
Kanye is sent on a mission to space to bring creativity back to Earth. He’s been gone for over a year. All of the crew on his ship are dead, leaving Jane, the on-board computer system, as Kanye’s only companion.
His ship crashes on an unknown planet. As Kanye begins to explore the unfamiliar surroundings, he is greeted by a female alien. Um, do alien’s have sexes? Anyway…
Kanye asks, “Do you know who I am?”
“Of course we know who you are. You are the biggest star in the Universe!,” replies the femalien.
Wow, biggest star in the Universe? Must be difficult for you to play this part, huh Kanye?
The Glow in the Dark tour follows a tough emotional journey of the singer. Kanye’s mother and main inspiration, Donda West, passed away late last year. A tragedy that would have paralyzed many, provided Kanye the inspiration he needed to produce, arguably, the best work of his career.
The show is pure candy for the eyes. Many screens, big and small, showed scenes of whirling galaxies and cataclysmic weather. In collaboration with elaborate lighting, special pyrotechnics and interactive stage pieces, the show elevated from mere concert to grand entertainment spectacle.
Kanye uses his lyrics to narrate the adventure. As his ship is hit by meteor debris, causing it to begin losing altitude, West begins singing the hit “All Falls Down.” After being away from Earth and stranded out in space for so long, he pleads for someone to help him. “Jesus Walks,” representing his faith, provides him the energy to keep going.
While the show is a feast for the eyes, the most memorable period of the night comes when the lights go off. Kanye gave a heart-breakingly emotional performance of “Hey Mama.” The crowd was swept over with silence and tears. Kanye, at his most vulnerable, finds it hard to get through the song. It is at this moment, fans watch a teary-eyed Kanye stop being the heroic astronaut and “arrogant asshole” he is made out to be and come back down to Earth.
Glow in the Dark is an emotional rollercoaster and an musical experience unlike any other. Kanye West has once again outdone himself. It’s a must see.
Unfortunately, the remaining dates of the concert are sold-out, but you can always try your luck with scalpers and eBay.
MySpace put together some music acts such as Jessica Simpson, Disturbed, and the Pussy Cat Dolls and sent them over to Kuwait to entertain our troops. They called it Operation MySpace.
The concert, shot live in HD, was well deserved and was a good distraction for our soldiers who are fighting for our lives everyday. MySpace wrote to it’s members, ” It’s 2008 and the world has changes but our troops still need our support.”
Before the music began, about 5,000 service members heard a message of support and appreciation from President Bush.
Then, before comedian Carlos Mencia got the troops laughing, he gave them some words of thanks.
“You guys work every single day doing a job that other people would never even dream of doing,” he said. “You do it proudly, and you do it with a smile, and I salute all of you.”
His job was to keep the troops enthusiasm going while the singing acts got ready.
DJ Z-Trip was also present and cranked up the volume on some special mixes.
Air Force Tech Sgt. Marcus Waller, deployed from MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., expressed gratitude for the celebrities’ appearance.
“I just want to give a big thanks to Carlos Mencia, the Pussycat Dolls and the various artists coming out in support of our troops,” Waller said. “We really appreciate it. It’s good to see faces, people thinking about us. As a whole, the U.S. military, we want to give you a big, ‘Thanks.’”
The artists gave their thanks to the troops saying how this interaction with the with has impacted all of them greatly.
Nicole Schersinger, lead singer of the Pussy Cat Dolls said, “This has been a life changing experience for us.”
“We’re coming over here to play rock music, and Frank’s in the military,” said Richard Patrick, lead vocalist for Filter. “Let’s bridge the two worlds and let everybody know it’s really one world.”
Disturbed’s vocalist David Draiman added,”We’re happy that we finally have the opportunity to get out here and talk the talk … and play for the troops and do what we said we’ve been meaning to do for the longest time. We’re feeling really, really good about it.”
Jessica Simpson concluded, “What you guys represent is true sacrifice,” she told the troops before singing her last number.
Although this day was suppose to be wonderful and memorable, some of the troops felt that Jessica Simpson was taking this opportunity to make some money and show her face rather than be there solely for the purpose of entertaining the troops.
Media takeout had this to say:
I am [Department Of Defense] civilian here in Kuwait working at the camp that held the OPERATION MYSPACE tour which was a charity event. She was the only act that was paid. Jessica insisted that they pay here approximately $150,000 [plus] $10,000 a day for Ken Paves and $6,000 a day for her stylist and make up artist.
When she arrived on the air field she had a pre-order that no one was allowed to come up to her and touch her she was looking very stuck up and snobby. When she came in the dining facility she only served the food for the troops for 5 minutes.
Her concert was last and everyone pretty much left before then. The Pussycat Dolls and the rock group Disturbed were so nice they were literally walking around with the troops without there body guards.

Have you seen the video of Cruz Beckham break dancing on stage at the Spice Girl’s concert in New York? It’s adorable and awesome–little Cruz has some serious moves for a 2.9 year old (he turned 3 years old two days after his world stage break dancing debut). (You can see the video in our video section.)
Each of the Spice Girls brought all their little kidlets onto the stage at Madison Square Garden while performing the song, “Mama,” and little Cruz busted away from the group and started break dancing like a pro–he was doing all kinds of little tricks & had serious rhythm & flair!
The Madison Square Garden holds approximately 20,000 guests and the crowd was going absolutely nuts every time he busted a move and it just fueled him on–he’s a gutsy little thing.
Mel B started laughing a bit mid-song and said, “That’s brilliant!” At the end of the song Posh told her son, “That was some great break dancing!”
The next day, Geri, told reporters, “Victoria’s son Cruz was a little star.”
The tour is winding down now, with only 6 shows remaining. Geri said, “…it’s rather like a countdown. I feel a mixture of sadness and joy. I know it is time to come home but I will miss everyone from the tour.”
