Danica Patrick’s Brawl with Milka Duno– Cat Claws on the Race Track!?

Posted on 20 July 2008 by CeCe

Danica Patrick, member of the Andretti Green Racing team, nearly exchanged blows today with Milka Duno, another female driver, who competes for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.

Eyewitnesses say that the verbal tussle got pretty heated.  Check out the video of the whole fight and see for yourself!

Being on different teams wasn’t the problem; It was Duno’s driving that upset Patrick.

This isn’t Patrick’s first time confronting another driver. She has also challenged fellow drivers Dan Wheldon and Ryan Briscoe after other racing incidents.

In 2007, Patrick and Wheldon collided during a race, but she managed to get back on the lead lap and finish in eighth place. After the race they had a heated exchange after she tried to confront him about the wreck.

Earlier this year, Patrick and Briscoe’s cars collided during practice, which eliminated both from the race. After being pushed back to her own pit, Patrick left her car and headed down pit road toward Briscoe’s pit at which point security intervened, preventing an on-track confrontation.

I think this woman just loves to fight! But, come on, there are only a few women drivers competing against a sea of men, and they should stick together!

Here they are posing for a picture- Duno on the far left (in jeans & black tee) and Patrick on the far right (next to one frightening looking lady–is that a lady?  Look at it her!). If they can be in the same picture together then why all the fighting?!

Of course, Patrick simply brushed off the latest scuffle, saying, “I just wanted to know if she saw me out there.”

Posted on 25 May 2008 by Loretta

Danica Patrick had to be stopped by Indy 500 track security today, May 25th, as she made her way towards Ryan Briscoe’s pit crew.

Apparently Patrick became furious after being hit by Ryan as she was leaving the pit lane. She got out of her car and started walking towards Briscoe’s pit ready to fight. Track Security stopped her and told her to return to her pit.

Later Patrick said,

I was ready to take it all off, my helmet and everything- because its hard to talk through the helmet. It’s probably a better idea that I didn’t make it all the way down there anyway because, well, as you guys know, I’m a little emotional.

We’ve always known that Patrick was a fierce competitor, but willing to fight a man because of a race.  That is one tough lady.

Danica Patrick makes history

Posted on 20 April 2008 by Loretta

Danica Patrick, IndyCar’s sexiest driver, has made it into the record books. Danica came in first at the Indy Japan 300 on Sunday April 20th.  She is the first woman to ever win a major auto race on a closed-circuit course. Danica-Patrick

Danica began her career in go-cart racing in 1992 and at the age of 16 moved to England and switched her focus to mainly road racing.  She became well known for finishing in second place at the Formula Ford Festival, England’s most competitive race, which was the highest ever finish for a woman or an American.

In 2005 Patrick officially announced that she would be driving in the IRL IndyCar Series.  She became the fourth woman in history to qualify for the Indy 500. She placed fourth in the race and was named Rookie of the Year for both the Indy 500 and the IndyCar Series.

After her first place finish on Sunday she made a tearful speech saying, “Finally. This is a long time coming. It was a fuel strategy race, but my team called it perfectly for me.  I know I was on the same strategy as Helio and when I passed him for the lead I couldn’t believe it. This is fabulous.”

Danica fans have been waiting a long time for this win and Patrick has always been a top contender. “I’ve been asked so many times when I’m going to win my first race, and finally, no more of those questions,” said Danica. You could just hear the relief in her voice. Congratulations Danica may this be the first of many victories!
