Posted on 08 March 2010 by Loretta

Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe, was hospitalized in New York after suffering from a severe case of stomach poisoning.

It’s being reported that Daniel spent two days in the hospital, where he was treated for stomach poisoning and dehydration, before boarding a plane to flying back London.

A fellow passenger on the plane said,

He looked as white as a sheet.  He said he felt like he was going to die and had spent most of his time on the toilet.

I couldn’t imagine being sick on a plane and having to use a teeny public restroom.  That must have been the longest flight of his life!

Daniel Radcliffe Accused Pot Smoker!

Posted on 13 November 2009 by Loretta

Daily-Mirror-Daniel-RadcliffeOMG! Britian’s Daily Mirror newspaper is reporting that Daniel Radcliffe was spotted smoking pot at a party and now Daniel, who denies the claim, is firing back and threatening legal action.

The Daily Mirror published a picture of Daniel smoking a roll-up cigarette as a friend drew a mustache on his face and they claim the cigarette is actually marijuana.

Daniel’s rep responded with this statement,

We categorically deny the allegations regarding Daniel Radcliffe published in today’s Daily Mirror.  Daniel does smoke the occasional roll-up cigarette, but he was not doing anything more than this.  We are considering our position and will be taking all necessary action in relation to such allegations.

Cigarette or marijuana?  What do you think?

Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe Get Hilarious Interview with Japanese Fan

Posted on 29 July 2009 by Jose L Garcia

Rather than spout heated opinions about things in Hollywood, as I am wont to do, there are more important things to attend to.  The website Japanprobe.com has video of Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe, of Harry Potter, getting quite possibly the most interesting interviews of their careers.

No, he's not a cyborg meant to fool you. It's really him.

No, he's not a cyborg meant to fool you. It's really him.

According to Japan Probe, a comedy show in Japan hosted a contest that promised to send one lucky fan to the set of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” to kick it with the cast (which is awesome); but, there’s a twist: the judges of the contest picked the strangest fan they could.  And the winner?  A young girl named Kana.  Who apparently has an obsession with people’s faces.

I imagine this is how the rest of the contestants felt when they found out they lost.

I imagine this is how the rest of the contestants felt when they found out they lost.

Honestly, it’s pretty funny.  Both Grint and Radcliffe are nothing but gracious in these interviews, and are obviously having fun, especially when Kana has to fight down the imminent seizure of joy.  It’s dubbed over in Japanese though, but that does not detract from the hilarity in the slightest.

Daniel Radcliffe Voices His Views On Homophobia In ‘Attitude’ Magazine

Posted on 24 July 2009 by Tammy Cakes

daniel-radcliffe-attitude-magazine-homophobiaDaniel Radcliffe is on the cover of Attitude magazine and he took this opportunity to voices his views on homophobia.

Rumors were spreading last week that the Harry Potter actor was gay. Instead of being upset and immediately trying to prove to people that he wasn’t, Daniel surprised us all with saying that he was thrilled to be mistaken for a gay man.

He told Moviefone, “It’s wonderful. I grew up around gay people my entire life, basically, that’s possibly why I’m quite camp, and some people think I’m gay when I meet them, which I think is awesome.”

“It’s always good to keep them guessing. I don’t go on any blogs or chats or anything, but my friends are demons for them, and apparently someone said ‘Daniel Radcliffe is gay. He’s got a gay face!’”

In Daniel’s recent interview with Attitude magazine, the Harry Potter star discussed the gay topic again saying that homophobia is “just disgusting and animal and stupid and it’s just thick people who can’t get their heads around it and are just scared.”

The 20-year-old credits his parents’ circle of gay friends for teaching him the importance of acceptance at a young age. “I was the only child in my class who had any experience of homosexuality or anything like that,” Daniel explains.

‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ Review

Posted on 15 July 2009 by Michael DeZubiria

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince posterThe new Harry Potter movie is overflowing with the romantic interests that we expect to crop up among the cast at this point in their lives. I remember wondering early in the series how they were going to keep making movies about young wizard students when the cast must be entering their 20s by the final films, and so far they’ve pulled it off with the only drawback being a sneaking feeling that, were all the love-sick teenager scenes taken out of the new movie, the 2 ½ hour running time would probably be reduced to about 80 minutes.

Not that that’s a bad thing. In fact, one of the many strengths of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is that it contains elements from just about every genre you can think of. There are tons and tons of awkward adolescent romance, but it never becomes cheesy or tiring. In fact, the vast majority of the instances of different characters stumbling over their amorous attempts at each other are remarkably endearing. More importantly, the movie also has tons of action, wonderful performances across the board, and elements of tense drama, fascinating mystery, and even more than a few scenes that emulate the creepy effectiveness of a classy horror film. This may very well be the best Potter film so far, which is not a quality generally associated with the sixth film in any series.

Far from being locked in his bedroom, Harry now kicks back in muggle world reading the news about Death Eaters destroying the Millennium Bridge, and the fact that he is the Chosen One.

Far from being locked in his bedroom, Harry now spends his down time in muggle world kicking back in cafes, reading the news about Death Eaters destroying the Millennium Bridge and the fact that he is the Chosen One.

Another thankful change is that the familiar structure of the first few films is all but gone completely. The series began with movies that all basically ran the same way. We meet Harry as he’s suffering through daily life with the Dursley’s, he runs through a brick wall to Hogwarts, sees all kinds of cool new wizard toys, has a run-in with Voldemort, and ultimately winds up back on the magical Hogwarts Express train on his way back home for another boring, magicless summer, which he’ll spend wallowing in stupid reality. Not this time. All the rules are changing now, and the result is that the entertainment level of the new movie is through the roof, even at its prodigious running time.

Okay so here’s the plot in exactly 100 words. Once again, Voldemort is “back,” prompting the Death Eaters to raise hell at Hogwarts as well as the muggle world. A climactic confrontation between Harry and Voldemort is now pretty inevitable, so Dumbledore sort of tricks a former potions professor into coming back to Hogwarts with the hopes of extracting critical information about Voldemort’s weaknesses. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.A tangled web of teen romance complicates the whole matter, while Malfoy and Snape seem to have gotten involved with a scheme involving the Dark Lord, and over it all hangs the question of who this Half-Blood Prince is and what is his significance.

Sounds pretty good, huh? Well it is, believe me. The movie is beautifully photographed and the special effects are absolutely stunning, some of the best I’ve ever seen. Also, the critical role of Professor Horace Slugborn, the potions professor with the valuable knowledge of Voldemort, is played with a wonderfully disarming charm by Jim Broadbent, an amazing actor who seems to lack the ability to be anything but disarming and charming. I want to meet that guy. Also of note are a couple of young boys – Hero Fiennes-Tiffin and Frank Delane – who play a young Tom Riddle with such a spot-on, oily creepiness that they seem to have been trained from birth to play the part of a Dark Lord. Their mothers must be so proud!

Helena Bonham Carter also shows up as a friend of Malfoy’s mother who coerces Snape into entering into the Unbreakable Vow, which is critical to one of the major developments of the story.

The good professor prepares to reward a successful student with some liquid luck.

The good professor prepares to reward a successful student with some liquid luck.

Other major developments include how Tom Riddle came to divide his own soul and become a Dark Lord, as well as some important details about what kinds of troubles Harry will encounter when he seeks to destroy him. It is all even more fascinating than you might think, and the movie ends with the feeling that it is nearly impossible to make any real predictions about any of the characters, and that if they wanted to they could make another seven movies just with the revelations of the last hour of this one. That the story is a brilliant imaginative creation is a serious understatement.

I don’t count myself among Harry Potter’s biggest fans. I haven’t read a Harry Potter novel since “The Goblet of Fire”, which I’m pretty sure I read in 2004, and, to be perfectly honest, I doubt I’ll read another one. But the latest movie is not only probably the best movie in the series, but I am naming it as one of the best movies of 2009 so far. It’s got black magic, exciting Quidditch action, memories in glass vials, liquid luck, romance, death, evil, comedy, misdirected love potions, humanoid water creatures, and a tearful eulogy of a lost pet – a tarantula the size of a Volkswagon.

And really, where else are you going to find all that stuff?

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Just before school: Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) lives with his aunt and uncle, who have concealed his magical heritage from him. The night before Harry turns 11 years old, a giant visitor arrives. Hagrid gives Harry his invitation to study magic at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

While at Hogwarts: He meets his soon-to-be best friends, Hermoine Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) at the train station and the sorting hat places all three in the Gryffindor House. Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton), jealous of Harry’s fame, is placed into Slytherin. He accidently discovers that he has a talent for riding broomsticks and is recruited to join Gryffindor’s Quidditch team as the seeker.

The Big Problem: Hermoine, Harry, and Ron uncover the secret of the Sorcerer’s stone and believe that Voldemort may be trying to steal it in order to gain immortality. The trio devises a plan to secure the safety of the stone.

The Fight: Harry finds Professor Quirrell trying to steal the stone. Much to everyone’s surprise, Voldemort lives in Quirrell, only revealed on the back of his head. Suddenly, Dumbeldore arrives and saves Harry from his second encounter with the evil lord.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

harry-potter-and-the-chamber-of-secrets

Just before school: While living with his aunt and uncle, Harry gets a visit from a house elf, Dobby, who warns him not to return to Hogwarts. Harry thinks this is rubbish.

The Big Problem: Harry, Hermoine, and Ron end up at the wrong place at the wrong time…as everyone leaves the dining hall, they discover a message written in blood that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened. The Chamber of Secrets can only be opened by the heir of Slytherin, who supposedly built the chamber in order to keep only pure-blood wizards at Hogwarts. Several muggle-borns, including Hermoine are found throughout Hogwarts petrified. Ron and Harry open the Chamber of Secrets…

The Fight: When Ron and Harry are cut off from each other, Harry continues into the chamber to find Ginny Weasely (Ron’s younger sister) close to death. Tom Riddle, a memory found in a journal, possessed Ginny to do his evil deeds for him. Tom, who is actually Voldemort, unleashes a basilisk, who’s gaze is fatal. Harry defeats the basilisk and destroys Tom Riddle, along with his memory.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

600full-harry-potter-and-the-prisoner-of-azkaban-poster

Just before school: Fed up, Harry leaves his muggle house and stays at ‘The Leaky Cauldron’ where he learns of the escape of a prisoner from Azkaban, Sirius Black. The word on the street is he escaped to find and kill Harry Potter.

While at Hogwarts: A new professor for ‘Defense Against the Dark Arts,’ Professor Remus Lupin, teaches Harry how to defend himself against the ‘dementors’ who normally guard Azkaban, but are searching for Sirius Black. They developed a special interest for Harry because of his dark past.

The Problem: The Weasley twins give Harry a map that tells where everyone is in Hogwarts. While looking at the map, he discovers a curious name, Peter Pettigrew, whom everyone thought to be murdered by Sirius Black. He shares this information with Professor Lupin, who was very close to the deceased Potters and Black. While Ron, Hermoine, and Harry are outside Hogwarts grounds, a wolf pulls Ron away with his rat. Harry and Hermoine follow and find themselves face to face with Black and Lupin. Enraged, Black informs Harry that Peter Pettingrew was the one who betrayed his parents and has taken the form of Ron’s rat.

The Fight: Before they can bring Peter Pettingrew to justice, Lupin takes on his werewolf form and begins attacking Black. Harry follows Black to ensure he’s not too injured. In the forest, they come face to face with the dementors who attempt to kill them. Someone across the lake saves their lives, and Harry is convinced it is his father. Hermoine takes him back in time only to discover that he saved himself.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

harry-potter-and-the-goblet-of-fire

Just before school: Harry Potter has a disturbing dream where he encounters the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters. He awakes at the Weasleys’ looking forward to the school year.

While at Hogwarts: Hogwarts is hosting the legendary event, the Triwizard Tournament. Only the strongest can compete in the tournament. Without his consent, his name is entered and he is unexpectedly chosen. He is too young for the tournament, but does it anyways. They go through two dangerous rounds before entering the third, the most dangerous. A huge maze. Meanwhile throughout the tournament, his dream continues to repeat.

The Fight: In the maze, Harry and his competitor, Cedric (Robert Pattinson) reach the cup, which is actually a portkey to Voldemort. Wormtail kills Cedric right away and puts Voldemorts weak body into a cauldron where he is revived. Voldemort challenges Harry and their spells are joined in a chain. The second Harry is able to break free, he grabs Cedric’s body and the cup, which transports him back to Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix

harry-potter-and-the-order-of-phoenix

Just before school: After many nightmares of Voldemort, Harry arrives at the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, a secret organization founded by Dumbledore. The Ministry of Magic refuses to acknowledge that Voldemort has returned.

While at Hogwarts: A new Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher, Dolores Umbridge, refuses to teach the students practical magic in order to prevent Dumbledore from forming an army. However, Harry, Hermoine, and Ron form a secret defense group, calling themselves “Dumbledore’s Army” (DA). Meanwhile, Harry’s nightmares continue. Snape begins training Harry’s mind to block itself from Voldemort’s. DA decides to fly to the Department of Mysteries in attempt to save Sirius.

The Fight: This is a trick to trap Harry. When he arrives, Voldemort and other Death Eaters battle against Harry and DA, resulting in Sirius’s death. Just before Voldemort tries to kill Harry, Dumbledore duels Voldemort. Some of his Death Eaters escape. Convinced that Voldemort has returned, the Ministry restores normality at Hogwarts.

Daniel Radcliffe’s ADHD Morning Show Interviews

Posted on 10 July 2009 by Lexacahn

Okay, after watching these two interviews that Daniel Radcliffe did on Regis and Kelly and The Today Show with Meredith Vieira, I was convinced he had ADHD.

Seriously, if you watch them you’ll know what I’m talking about.

He’s like a little kid who gets very excited VERY quickly and goes manic for a while and can’t sit still for the life of him.

So, I did a little research on whether or not Daniel had ADHD and turns out, he has Dyspraxia which is a disorder very similar to ADHD.  Who knew?

Regardless, they’re pretty interesting interviews but it’s really hard not to be distracted by Daniel’s mania!

Check out the interviews below:

Emma Watson looked stunning as always with her wizard co-stars at her side. And it’s nice to see Rupert after his case of swine flu!

After delaying the release, this Harry Potter movie might be the most anticipated yet. Fans had to prepare for the rainfall, but they didn’t seem to mind!
