Terrabites at LA’s New Favorite Cafe Flourish

Posted on 28 August 2009 by Becky Wilhite

For her 3rd Vegan week, Terrabites visited the new Cafe Flourish on Wilshire Blvd. in LA.  Check out the bites at this already highly rated vegan restaurant… a new favorite of Jason Mraz!

Terra’s Fave Flourish Picks: Reuben Sandwich, Smac n’ Cheese and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Wanna try out Cafe Flourish or check out their menu? Go to www.cafeflourish.com.

Los Angeles, CA 90036

Every week Terrabites will be trying out the newest, hottest restaurants in and near the L.A. area.  She’ll be giving you the lowdown on the food, the ambiance, the drinks (woo-hoo!) and the type of crowd you can expect!

There’s just one little problem, however… she’s lactose intolerant, which means some food items will be off limits!  Not to worry dairy lovers!  Terra has taken care of this issue by trying out LA vegan restaurants for a month! Bring it on!

Founding Farmer’s Restaurant-Our Founding Fathers Would Be Proud

Posted on 20 August 2009 by Jaclyn Mullen

Last Friday, the Jaclynsphere had the chance to check out one of DC’s most popular restaurants Founding Farmers

Quickly approaching their year anniversary, Founding Farmers has continually received recognition as a 2009 Top 100 Best Restaurant by Washingtonian Magazine and Top 50 Best New Restaurant Travel and Leisure Magazine.

After my Founding Farmers experience, it was no surprise why entertainers and athletes such as LeBron James, Kal Penn, Owen Wilson, Serena Williams and Leann Rimes  have been seen dining there. Even Soozie from Q’s Beauty Reviews has dined there, 4 times in a row!!!

So what makes Founding Farmers “A list” in my book? Well aside from being a certified Green restaurant, as their website points out, “Founding Farmers believes that everyone benefits by knowing more about the sources of the food they eat. We understand the journey of our products from seed to harvest, and from Farm-to-Table. Owned by a collective of American family farmers, we promote the products and services of family farms, ranches, and fisheries. We celebrate and share the long-standing connection between farmers – the first to lead the “green” movement – and their historic stewardship of natural resources.”

They even have a new iPhone app, read about it on Twitter @foundingfarmers

So if you happen to visit the Nation’s Capitol and want to experience the top sites, be sure to stop into Founding Farmers (it’s only two blocks from the White House).

The Jaclynsphere recommends the following lunch course:

To Drink- Founding Farmers Mint Limeade

To Start Off-A fresh baked flat bread. I tried the Creamy Brie with Onion Jam and sliced Organic Apples. Let’s just say I could not stop eating it.

FoundingFarmers-Flatbread

To Munch-The Roasted Chicken Salad-creamy rotisserie chicken salad, garden beets, tender bib lettuce. Bursting with flavors and won’t leaving you feeling overfull.

FoundingFarmers-RoastedChickenSalad

To Sin-If you work hard, why not finish off with a little guilty pleasure such as the Founding Farmers Red Velvet Cake. No description necessary, you just have to try it!

Lisa Frantz, Sous Chef of Founding Farmers Restaurant.

Best of all-you can bike there or take the metro to reduce your carbon footprint.

Terrabites Visits Kay ‘n Dave’s Cantina

Posted on 09 July 2009 by Becky Wilhite

Terra-Bites

Here it is–our first Hollywire Minute with TerraBites and The Extra Cheese!  And let me tell you, this girl not only loves to eat, but holy guacamole (pun intended) she can put it down!

So what’s this all about? Well, every week Terra will be trying out the newest, hottest restaurants in and near the L.A. area.  She’ll be giving you the lowdown on the food, the ambiance, the drinks (woo-hoo!) and the type of crowd you can expect.

There’s just one little problem, however… she’s lactose intolerant, which means some food items will be off limits!  Not to worry dairy lovers!  She will be bringing along her “Extra Cheese” (a.k.a. dinner buddy) along every week to help with the lactose department, so nothing is left unbitten!

And without further adieu… here’s TerraBites!

To check out the menu and try your own bites at one of their multiple locations, visit Kay ‘n Dave’s Fresh Mex Cantina. Happy eating!
