Pete Wentz is known for making headlines. From his marriage to Ashlee Simpson to his “bromance” with John Mayer, he is no stranger to fame. Pete joins the ranks of of former Tap spokespeople that include Sarah Jessica Parker, Lucy Liu as well as Joel and Benji Madden. Now in its fourth year, the Tap Project remains a grassroots initiative to provide clean water to children around the world inviting individuals to donate $1 or more for the tap water they usually enjoy for free at participating restaurants.
Ellen DeGeneres. She’s the funny face we see on TV, the latest host to join the America Idol franchise and we over at Hollywire had NO IDEA that Ellen DeGeneres is also a VEGAN. As EcoRazzi first reported, an entire section of her website is “dedicated to living the veg life.”
Hollywire.com reports on Green Celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres.
And for those of you that are scratching your heads wondering just what that means, a Vegan is defined as: a strict vegetarian; someone who eats no animal or dairy products at all. Some vegans even exclude the use of animal products in clothing as well.
Vegans like Ellen DeGeneres don't consume or use any animal products.
Being a vegan isn’t the only green action Ellen De Generes has picked up, she supports the green movement a variety of ways. She bought the company Halo, all organic pet food brand and from a social activism stand point, Ellen raised over $10 million for hurricane Katrina victims. She even wants her fans to go green. You can buy “Laugh, Dance, Recycle” shirts from her website to serve as a reminder that going green can be fun.
Ellen DeGeneres is certainly a leading green celebrity. To learn more about Ellen’s vegan lifestyle, visit the Why Go Vegan section of her website by clicking here
Funny man Jimmy Fallon is a man of many talents including impersonating our favorite celebrities. His act took a green twist last week when NBC celebrated “Green Week.”
Check out how Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, TI, JT and many of your other celebs go green according to Jimmy Fallon. We’re confident you’ll be singing the new hit single, “You’ve got to change your light bulbs-hey!”
Glaceau, the company behind mega brands Vitaminwater and Smartwater wants you to hydrate responsibly with their products. They also continually strive to “bring a fresh approach to water” especially by participating in events such as the “Casa Surf Project.”
Jennifer Anniston is a celeb fan of Smartwater.
Described as “a breakthrough in design, surf lifestyle and hotel living”, the Casa Surf Project was a collaborative effort between Roxy, Quiksilver, Glaceau and other companies. Each brand was asked to design a unique hotel room in the La Casa Del Camino hotel located in Laguna Beach. A portion of proceeds from each room will be donated to key charities for the first year.
The Glaceau Suite at the La Casa Del Camino Hotel in Laguna Beach, CA.
The team stated, “Our design inspiration came from two places-the icon for lifestyle water, Glaceau, makers of Smartwater and Vitaminwater, and a historic beach front hotel located in Laguna Beach, The Casa del Camino. Along with Glaceau’s fitness and health campaign, and the hotel’s oceanside setting, a perfect storm developed! A spike of athletic energy in a surfer’s haven!”
As if that wasn’t cool enough, all the materials for design had sustainability and green in mind. Even the drapery and bedding were comprised of recycled fibers made from used plastic bottles. Way to go green Glaceau! To see the other suites, check out Casa Surf Project
Now a days, there is a lot of buzz surrounding green hollywood. So, who really is just playing the green card for the extra boost in image?
Which celebrities really have both feet on the green carpet? These are the questions VH1 seeks to answer in it’s new show “Top 20 Celebs Gone Good” which is set to premiere Thursday November 19th at 8pm.
Hilary Duff is a green celeb. She is active with Return To Freedom, a sanctuary for Wild Horses.
Helping Vh1 in determining the “green goodness” is the non-profit organization DoSomething.org, the nation’s largest not-for-profit for young people and cause. There has never been a better time in American history for people to get involved and do something-whether its volunteering or helping the environment.
You can even get some great ideas from our Hollywood heros. Visit CelebsGoneGood.VH1.com or CelebsGoneGood.com, check out who has made the cut then do some research to see how these starlets are trying to save our planet.
Not that we need to name drop but some of the celebs gone good include:
While in town for fashion week in her native homeland Canada, Pam swung by the Ontario Legislature in Toronto. According to statistics, Canada is where most of the world’s seal hunting takes place. The European Parliament has deemed seal hunting as “inherently inhumane.”
As a Canadian, celebrity and human being, Pam obviously agrees that this should stop and she has some star power backing her. Perez Hilton, Jenny Garth and Kelly Osbourne are also involved with the cause.
Long before Zac Efron rode in an eco limo, before Hayden Panetttiere wanted to save the Dolphins, Ally Maize-founder of the Green Youth Movement was trying to help teens go green. It certainly doesn’t hurt now that stars Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Emma Watson have started driving hybrid cars which helps reinforce Ally’s message.
Ally is passionate about the environment and taking a stance towards global warming. She founded the Green Youth Movement as both a “resource for people seeking information and for those people who want to try to make a difference and help the environment.”

Just this past weekend, Ally and the Green Youth Movement held a waterless car wash to raise funds for their highschool. And they aren’t stopping there. Future events include a green fashion show and green halloween event.
Ally Maize, center, gets by with a little green help from her friends.
And here’s a fun teen green tip of the day from our friends at Seventeen Magazine-”Donate to Locks of Love. Your hair won’t be thrown away and you’ll help a girl in need.”
Selena Gomez may be a teenager, but don’t mistake this Disney starlet’s ability to impact more than the many fans that follow her movies, television show Wizards of Waverly Place as well as her musical act as a rock singer.
The world may not know it yet but Selena Gomez is a TOTAL star who also wants to use her fame for great causes to impact the globe too.
Yes, SelenaGomez can now add philanthropist to her resume of diverse talents. According to Ecorazzi.com , “Selena is the youngest UNICEF Ambassador in history. In September she spent some time in Ghana, West Africa where she witnessed poverty on a whole new level.”
This very trip inspired Selena to help UNICEF raise funds, $1,000,000 to be exact, which she would like the foundation to have so it may help Ghana prevent children from dying due to illnesses that could have been avoided. We hope the world will get behind this goal and support Selena Gomez and UNICEF.
UNICEF stands for the United Nations Children’s Fund and is based upon focus areas which include child survival and development, HIV/AIDS and child protection.
In addition to her work with UNICEF, Selena has participated in some green initiatives on as well. From recycling to gardening to her fundraising work for great causes, Selena Gomez sets such a great example of giving back and going green!!
