Axel Rose refused to do all press and TV because he did not like the album cover for Chinese Democracy! This lead to disappointing sales for the band.
AC/DC outsold Guns N’ Roses by nearly 500,000 due to the amount of exposure AC/DC had leading up to their release. The band and promoters are blaming poor sales on Axel Rose.
Best Buy had an exclusive release with Gun N’ Roses for the Chinese Democracy Album as did AC/DC with Wal-Mart. Guns N’ Roses only sold 255,000 as compared to AC/DC which sold 802,000. Ouch! Two weeks before the album was released, GN’R latest was considered a strong contender for the chart’s peak position, with some predicting the album would outperform West’s 808s.
Interscope is very very upset! This was suppose to be their BIG FISH for the end of this year. Sources at Interscope say they will not tolerate this behavior again!!! Uh ohhh!!! What is in store for Axel and the band?!?!?!
FBI agents arrested 27-year-old Kevin Cogill on Wednesday morning on suspicion of violating federal copyright laws. Cogill is suspected of streaming songs from the unreleased Guns N’ Roses album “Chinese Democracy” on his Web site. His bail was set at $10,000.00
Cogill admitted that he posted the music on his site, but later took them down. Still, prosecutors said the leak could result in a “significant” financial loss for the band.
“Guns N’ Roses representatives have been made aware of the arrest and are leaving the matter to the authorities,” said Larry Solters, the band’s spokesman.
Guns and Roses is of course the 80’s hair band (for all of you born in the 90s) that has only one original member left, Axl Rose. The re-grouped band has been working on this album for about 10 years and everyone has been waiting with baited breath for this big comeback! You can check out some of the old stuff below, enjoy!
At least the band themselves are not suing the blogger, he is going to have enough trouble dealing with the FBI as he has only a public defender and can not afford good representation.
