Miley Cyrus talks about her first love, saying goodbye to Hannah Montana and more in an exclusive interview with Parade Magazine.

The singer/actor is growing up and she wants everyone to know it!  Miley is coming into her own and taking charge, making the transition from child star to adult actress.

On people telling her what to do…
“I hate being thought of as a product. I am not a doll, and people want to treat me that way. They say, ‘Now this is what we need to do to your makeup, and this is what I want you to wear,’ and I’m like, ‘Dude, I choose.’ When I was 12, that was okay. But I’m older now. I have an opinion. I have my own taste.”

Miley calls her 19-year-old Aussie co-star her “first serious boyfriend,” but what about Nick Jonas and Justin Gaston?
“Nick and I were so young. We really did have a genuine love, but it wasn’t like this. We met when I was 12. I didn’t know who I was. I know who I am now and am so content and full of purpose.” As for model Justin Gaston, “He was a good person, so carefree. All I know is that I am so happy right now. I wasn’t last summer after I called it off with Justin and went away to film The Last Song. I cried all the way there. The last thing I was expecting to do was to fall in love. I went there thinking the summer was about me and getting focused on my career. But I guess God was like, ‘Girl, here is this amazing guy.’ ”

On saying farewell to Hannah Montana…
“What I am sure about is I’m going to rejoice and be happy to finally not have to be…well, to not be somebody I’m not exactly. As I’ve grown into it, I’ve grown out of it. Does that make sense? When I was 12, I thought, ‘I want to be famous all the time! I want everybody to recognize me!’ ” Now Miley says she is ready to have a private life. “When they’re putting me in sparkles and in pink this final season, I have to grit my teeth. I can’t breathe looking like that anymore. A friend came by the set one day and said, ‘You don’t look very happy.’ I said, ‘I’m feeling claustrophobic in all these frills.’

Miley Cyrus has something to say to all the haters out there…. “go get a hobby!”

During an interview with KIIS FM, Miley not only confirmed she’s dating Aussie, Liam Hemsworth, which we already knew, she made it clear how she feels about her critics.

Miley said,

I may not be the best singer in the world, but I don’t lip synch, I’m honest.  I’m honest in acting, too.  I’m doing what I like, people that are dogging me probably aren’t, which is why they’re down on me.  I want to tell them ‘go get a hobby!’

As for Liam, Miley added,

I feel like I’ve been with people before, both in the public eye and out of the public eye, that may need something from me.  He’s not like that.  He was already successful, he was already cast in a movie, he didn’t need me for that.  He doesn’t need me to make him famous.

Wonder if she’s referring to Justin Gaston in that last statement.  He did gain a little fame while dating Miley and since the split it’s Justin who?

Selena was born on July 22, 1992.  Her parents, Mandy Teefy, who was 16 when she had Selena and a former stage actress, and Ricardo Gomez divorced when Selena was 5-years-old.  Her mom remarried in 2006 to Brian Teefy. Selena is an only child.

Selena first started acting on Barney & Friends, playing the part of Gianna.  She then had minor roles in Spy Kids 3-D:  Game Over and the TV movie Walker, Texas Ranger:  Trial By Fire. Selena was picked up by Disney in 2004 in a nation wide casting search.  She was a guest star on The Suite LIfe of Zack & Cody and made recurring appearances on Hannah Montana before landing the lead role of “Alex Russo” in Wizards of Waverly Place.   Selena also starred in the Disney Channel movie, Princess Protection Program with her then BFF, Demi Lovato and had a minor role as a voice over in Horton Hears a Who.

Miley Cyrus is doing her small part by holding an auction on eBay for the dress she wore to the Grammys in order to raise money for Haitian relief.  The Herve Leger dress will go to the highest bidder on eBay next week. Miley Cyrus tells USA Today,

“I’m going to auction it (the dress) off on eBay for the Red Cross. It’s the little things you can do. I think it’s really important that everybody come (sic) together because disaster relief isn’t just now. It’s how we’re going to help years from now. We have to restore an entire place. It just can’t be one person, one foundation, one group of people. All people have to come together.”

The Hannah Montana star received both praise and flak for her choice in dress, but she is smart, knowing that she was going to use fashion to help she choice a dress that would get people talking and therefor be desirable to own.  People are saying it’s too tight, or too short, but personally I just don’t get the shoulder pads.  That’s one fashion that could have stayed in the ’80s.

The more I hear Miley talk the more I like her.  Given that she is only 17, she is incredibly articulate and wise beyond her years. Miley is using her fame to help the world, others could take note.  I hope more people get inspired by Miley.

What are you doing to help the Haitians?

Taylor Momsen has been receiving a lot of negative attention lately and she’s speaking out about it.

Taylor stated,

Online, there’s a thousand people who are just so mean.  There are so many negative comments about just the pettiest things that you can’t even read it…. My favourite blogs are where you get the mothers saying, ‘She’s the worst influence on my daughter, I would never let my daughter dress like that,’ or ‘This girl is such a whore, she’s a slut.’  And I’m, like, you’re a mother!  And I’m 16…

To be honest, I don’t f**king care.  I didn’t get into this to be a role model.  So I’m sorry if I’m influencing your kids in a way you don’t like, but I can’t be responsible for their actions.  I don’t care.

The Gossip Girl star also talked about how happy she is to have lost the role of Hannah Montana, she was one of the final three actresses in the running, to Miley Cyrus.

Taylor said,

Honestly, if I’d have ended up as Hannah Montana, I don’t know if the show would have gone as well.  I probably would have told them to all to go f**k themselves by the time I hit 11.  And I don’t know how that would have gone down.  It’s great for Miley, but I really like where I am right now and I feel really fortunate to be able to really be myself.

All I can say is, thank goodness Miley got the role of Hannah Montana because Taylor’s bad attitude and dirty mouth would not have been good for Disney.  Miley’s messed up a couple of times, but there isn’t a wholesome bone in Taylor’s body.
