U2 rocked Los Angeles back in October when they came to the Rose Bowl and performed a stellar show. Celebs in attendance ranged from Twilight cast members Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene to Orlando Bloom and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Bono, lead singer of U2, continues to rock the world not only with his music but also through philinathropy. According to Cause Cast.org, Bono and his wife have aligned their “socially conscious clothing company” Edun with the organization War Child International.

Bono from U2 supports a variety of initiatives to promote world peace and unity.

As their websites explains, “War Child was founded upon a fundamental goal: to advance the cause of peace through investing hope in the lives of children caught up in the horrors of war.”

Bono’s clothing line itself “creates sustainable economic growth and employment opportunities in developing nations.” To learn more about their clothing line, check out http://www.edunonline.com

Life Changing Live’s Gala To Feature Live Performances

Posted on 01 September 2009 by Jaclyn Mullen

Today marks September 4th-a sign of many things. Fall is upon us, our last day of vacation may in fact be Labor Day and now that we are in September, one of the biggest days in American History is steadily approaching. Next Friday, September 11th will mark the 8th anniversary of what took place in the Big Apple back in 2001.

Year after year since 9/11, Hollywood still reminds us that the people it has affected most-those who lost family members and those whose family members are in the military, are not far from celebrity minds. Such will be the case on Friday September 11th, 2009 when the second annual Life Changing Lives One Nation, One Heart star studded event will take place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California.

Joshua Allen and Katee Shean on So You Think You Can Dance.

The event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County and Boys & Girls Clubs of Orange County Alliance and feature a live performance from So You Think You Can Dance alum’s Joshua Allen and Katee Shean. The duo will perform the popular “No Air” piece sung by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown that was choreographed by the “Dynamic D’umo’s”-husband and wife choreographers Napolean and Tabitha.

This week, the Jaclynsphere got to catch up with these amazing creative collaborators that are coming together for these great causes. Check out what Napolean, Tabitha, Katee and Josh all had to say!

September 11th is now a National Day Of Service. So whether you are in DC at “Green the Block” or out in Los Angeles, be sure to serve on this special day (which will also be my 28th birthday)

Founding Farmer’s Restaurant-Our Founding Fathers Would Be Proud

Posted on 20 August 2009 by Jaclyn Mullen

Last Friday, the Jaclynsphere had the chance to check out one of DC’s most popular restaurants Founding Farmers

Quickly approaching their year anniversary, Founding Farmers has continually received recognition as a 2009 Top 100 Best Restaurant by Washingtonian Magazine and Top 50 Best New Restaurant Travel and Leisure Magazine.

After my Founding Farmers experience, it was no surprise why entertainers and athletes such as LeBron James, Kal Penn, Owen Wilson, Serena Williams and Leann Rimes  have been seen dining there. Even Soozie from Q’s Beauty Reviews has dined there, 4 times in a row!!!

So what makes Founding Farmers “A list” in my book? Well aside from being a certified Green restaurant, as their website points out, “Founding Farmers believes that everyone benefits by knowing more about the sources of the food they eat. We understand the journey of our products from seed to harvest, and from Farm-to-Table. Owned by a collective of American family farmers, we promote the products and services of family farms, ranches, and fisheries. We celebrate and share the long-standing connection between farmers – the first to lead the “green” movement – and their historic stewardship of natural resources.”

They even have a new iPhone app, read about it on Twitter @foundingfarmers

So if you happen to visit the Nation’s Capitol and want to experience the top sites, be sure to stop into Founding Farmers (it’s only two blocks from the White House).

The Jaclynsphere recommends the following lunch course:

To Drink- Founding Farmers Mint Limeade

To Start Off-A fresh baked flat bread. I tried the Creamy Brie with Onion Jam and sliced Organic Apples. Let’s just say I could not stop eating it.

FoundingFarmers-Flatbread

To Munch-The Roasted Chicken Salad-creamy rotisserie chicken salad, garden beets, tender bib lettuce. Bursting with flavors and won’t leaving you feeling overfull.

FoundingFarmers-RoastedChickenSalad

To Sin-If you work hard, why not finish off with a little guilty pleasure such as the Founding Farmers Red Velvet Cake. No description necessary, you just have to try it!

Lisa Frantz, Sous Chef of Founding Farmers Restaurant.

Best of all-you can bike there or take the metro to reduce your carbon footprint.

Green Life Is An Ever Changing Climate

Posted on 19 August 2009 by Jaclyn Mullen

Recycle. We hear that word often but why do we recycle? Yes it is good for the environment but how is it good? Recycling reduces the green house gas emissions that cause Global Warming.

why-recycle

Ok so maybe that’s a bit technical for Hollywire but making an impact on our Earth is as easy as: running all your errands in one trip, recycling, buying and driving a smaller car, and even utilizing natural light while keeping your lights off or limited during the day. These were all great tips I got from Chelsea Maxwell, a former climate adviser to now-retired Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) *Fun facts-he was briefly married to Elizabeth Taylor and he once dated Barbara Walters.

Chelsea works for the Clark Group which provides Environmental Counseling and Lobbying services out of Washington, D.C.

Chelsea-Maxwell-Pic

Pretty enough to grace Hollywood herself, Chelsea is experienced and passionate regarding climate issues. “Most people think this issue is so big, what can they do,” she told me during our interview. “If we have one person that’s driving one day less a month and they tell their friends and their behavior influences others, over time the more and more people that partake, it will make a diffrerence.”

Some of the issues we may expect to see eventually as Global Warming takes its toll are:

-Shifts in agriculture

-Rise in sea level which impacts coastal towns and their tourism dollars

-Carbon will continue to accumulate in the atmosphere

Climate-Change-Hollywire

Overall these things would mean a further loss to our economy.

In the words of Chelsea Maxwell, small steps are a start. “Buy energy saving light bulbs, start utilizing a reusable water bottle, recycle. Get multiple uses out of tupperware or plastic bags. Some grocery stores are now encouraging you to bring a reusable bag.”

Meeting with Chelsea certainly impacted me and reminded me how we do have the choice, power and ability to make changes. It starts with an action such as recycling. Take it from me in Los Angeles where the celebs live and the air is smoggy. We can’t take our natural resources and Earth for granted.

Celebs and DC-The Nation’s Capitol Has An Influence on Hollywood

Posted on 19 August 2009 by Jaclyn Mullen

Connie-Chungdave-chapelle-2katherine-heiglSamuel-Jacksontim-gunnAllyson-Hannigan-How I Met Your Mother

What do Connie Chung, comedian Dave Chapelle, Katherine Hiegel from

Grey’s Anatomy, Samuel Jackson,Tim Gunn of Bravo Reality fame,

and Allyson Hannigan from How I Met Your Mother, all have in common?

They were born in Washington, DC proving that the stars on our flag aren’t

the only ones we pledge allegiance (or admiration) to.

From the big screen to your television screen, Washington D.C can boast about more than just the White House. And last week, Hollywire contributor Jaclyn Mullen brought the Jaclynsphere to the Nation’s Capitol to get a glimpse into the political powerhouse of a city.

Even though she was far from the Hills of Hollywood, Hollywire was not far from her heart as she posed in front of the George Washington Monument in true Hollywire fashion. Be sure to read her review for Founding Fathers restaurant and get a glimpse into the life of a lobbyist when her interview of Chelsea Mawell goes online this afternoon.
