The Environmental Media Association was founded by Lyn and Norman Lear and Cindy and Alan Horn back in 1989. Their main goal is to “honor film and television productions and individuals that increase public awareness of environmental issues and inspire personal action on these issues.”
With the green movement continuing to receive Hollywood support, we’re sure the EMA founders are proud.

For her 3rd Vegan week,Terrabites visited the new Cafe Flourish on Wilshire Blvd. in LA. Check out the bites at this already highly rated vegan restaurant… a new favorite of Jason Mraz!
Terra’s Fave Flourish Picks: Reuben Sandwich, Smac n’ Cheese and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie
Every week Terrabites will be trying out the newest, hottest restaurants in and near the L.A. area. She’ll be giving you the lowdown on the food, the ambiance, the drinks (woo-hoo!) and the type of crowd you can expect!
There’s just one little problem, however… she’s lactose intolerant, which means some food items will be off limits! Not to worry dairy lovers! Terra has taken care of this issue by trying out LA vegan restaurants for a month! Bring it on!
We all know you know this song and secretly love it, although you probably don’t know all the words no matter how many times you’ve listened to the catchy tune. And because of our obsession with Jason Mraz’s ‘I’m Yours‘, it has shattered a pretty serious record this week. At 70 weeks, it is now the longest-running song on the Hot 100 Billboard chart in 51 years.
According to Reuters, it is also the only track to reach No. 1 on each of the following top four radio based charts: Mainstream Top 40/Pop Songs, Adult Contemporary, Adult Top 40, and Triple A. It has also some how found it’s way on to the top of Latin Pop and Smooth Jazz, and debuts this week at Rhythm.
Who are the artists Mraz trampled over to get to the top?
LeAnn Rimes- “How Do I Live”; Carrie Underwood- “Before He Cheats”- 64 weeks; Jewel- “Foolish Games/You Were Meant For Me”- 65 weeks; Life House-”You & Me”-62 weeks; Los del Rio- “Marcarena”- 60 weeks.
I love Jason Mraz but I never knew he was so environmental savvy.
In Jason’s blog yesterday he shared a naked picture of himself as well as some tips on how to save toilet paper. Jason writes that two-ply t.p. is more harmful to our environment than we realize. “Americans’ addiction to two-ply, super soft toilet paper is causing greater harm to our environment than our gas guzzling cars. No s—…. In order to produce all that perfectly plush paper, companies must harvest tons of virgin trees, which the reaping of means less oxygen for the atmosphere to offset or all the carbon that seems to be frying us here on the surface.”
Now that he has made us feel bad, he gives us some tips on how to save on your toilet paper usage:
- Start small. Challenge yourself to use only 8 squares in your session. We’ve all been in that place where it’s close to the cardboard roll and you have to be MacGuyver to make a clean get-away. This will force you to get creative while taking good care of each square.
- Use both sides. I mean that. I bet some people are afraid to look at or get close to their own skid-marks. But I say it’s better to know how your body’s handling the business of your health. Fold the paper again and again using a clean angle from the very same square. There’s a lot of real estate wasted on each sheet when you only wipe once.
- Should you find the paper too thin and become the victim of too many breakthroughs, try using a stronger material as a backing. This worked when I was camping. The paper wasn’t holding up in the dampness of camp, so I used a leaf to give the paper more strength from behind. Plus the leaf was textured, which handled the job with far more efficiency than just the paper by itself.
