It’s official! Jimmy Fallon is going to take the reigns on Late Night once Conan O’Brien assumes the spot that Jay Leno leaves open when he retires from the Tonight Show next year.
OK everyone, move one spot to the left! It’s a regular late night musical chairs
“It’s a comedian’s dream to get this job, to work with writers and try to be funny every night,” Fallon, 33, said at the news conference. “That’s the challenge of live TV, to come back every night and try to be funny.”
Jimmy Fallon is of course known for his work on SNL from 1998 to 2006 and for staring in a couple of bombs after that. Anyone remember Taxi? Didn’t think so…..

I am left with a feeling that he will have a hard time filling Conan’s shoes. Jimmy is funny and all but its a tough job and does he have the chops for it?

What do you all think?
I hope he has some good writers!

Both Hollywood Reporter and Variety are reporting that Jimmy Fallon has signed on to take over Conan O’Brien’s Late Night show while Conan replaces Jay Leno on the Tonight show.As he did with O’Brien, Fallon’s former Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels will produce his newest protégé’s late-night show.Fallon isn’t a complete rookie, back in 03, Jimmy served as guest host for CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman. The switch is expected to take place in early 2009.First off, I’m kinda sad Jay Leno is leaving. I can’t imagine late night tv with out him. Second, Jimmy Fallon? Come on. The guy is way too animated, you can’t take anything he says seriously. I just don’t see him being able to have grown-up conversations. I don’t know. What do you think about Jimmy Fallon getting his own late night talk show?
