Celebrity soccer player David Beckham was named the top US athlete at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, August 3, 2008. The award show, hosted this year by teen superstar Miley Cyrus, represents the opinion of media-gawking teenagers nationwide.

Believe it or not, 33-year-old Beckham actually does play sports and relocated to Los Angeles, CA, from England to play for the LA Galaxy soccer team. He competed for this year’s coveted Teen Choice surfboard award along with fellow popular sports idols Eli Manning, Kobe Bryant, and Tiger Woods, to name a few. This is not Beckham’s first award this year; he was recently named ESPN’s Major League Soccer Player of 2008.

Whether Beckham received the award for his stellar soccer abilities or his general hotness, there’s no sure way to tell. This award will no doubt add to the increasing popularity of the Beckham family as a whole.

The Beckman boys–David with sons Brooklyn and Romeo–we’re out driving in Beverly Hills today, apparently paying a visit to a pediatrician.  What is it about a man taking care of his kids that’s so damn sexy?

Brooklyn will be 9 years old in March; Romeo is 5; and their other son, Cruz (not out and about with the other Beckham boys this time) will be turning 3 in just a few days–February 20th!
