In less than two hours at 5pm Eastern time, giant names from the music business-some new, some old-will “band” together for Farm Aid 2009, a concert to “raise money for family farms and promote local, organic food.”

According to the official Farm Aid website  www.farmaid.org “Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp organized the first Farm Aid concert in 1985 to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to keep farm families on their land. Dave Matthews joined the Farm Aid Board of Directors in 2001. Farm Aid has raised nearly $35 million to promote a strong and resilient family farm system of agriculture.”

There are some great, new acts joining the line up tonight. As the Huffington Post points out, “This year’s concert will feature sets from Jason Mraz and Gretchen Wilson.”

This “good food” movement, as it is often called, will be hosted by the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in St. Louis, MO. Official sponsors include Horizon Organic, Direct TV and Sauce Magazine just to name a few.

Support Farm Aid 2009 and “keep America growing” strong! 

After selling off Phat Farm and Baby Phat labels in 2004, Russell Simmons has launched himself back into the arms of the fashion world with his new line “Argyleculture.” Hollywire was present at Simmons’ fashion show.

Simmons’ celebrity friends showed up to the glitzy affair to show their support for his newest endeavor. Paris Hilton and Bai Ling had front row seats to the upscale fashion show.

Paris always at rockin’ the bling, kicked it up a notch in her jeweled dress and head band.

The ever unpredictible Bai Ling kept her lady-like demeanor throughout the show.

Simmons known for urban street wear under “Phat Farm” is taking using his new line “Argyleculture” to reinvent refined American prepsters. (Think Ralph Lauren with an edge)

Russell Simmons spent much of his time at the event being a curtious host to the numerous friends and guests attending the even. He was approachable and eager to get the word out about his new fashion passion project. But even if you couldn’t get a private audience (like Claudia Jordan above) with the hip-hop mogul, you could appreciate the detail and thought he put into throwing the Argyleculture fashion show.
