Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were married last night, August 16th.
The couple exchanged hand written vows in front of 19 guest during their intimate wedding ceremony at their home in Los Angeles, California. Both Ellen and Portia wore Zac Posen and exchanged wedding rings designed by Neil Lane. L.A. florist, Mark’s Garden provided the flower arrangements.
Ellen announced her plans to wed Portia back in May on her talk show shortly after the Supreme Court overturned the ban on gay marriage. Then in June Portia showed off her 3-carat diamond ring at the Emmys.
Ellen talked about de Rossi in an interview stating that, “She’s taugt me lessons about myself, and I feel like I’ve taught her. We’ve both changed and grown, and we just feel like, ‘Oh, okay, this is completion.’”
The famous lesbian Hollywood couple, talk show host/comedian Ellen DeGeneres and her girlfriend, actress Portia de Rossi, are getting married tomorrow, reports US Weekly. They will have a small intimate ceremony with family and friends.
Ellen announced their engagement on her show in May.
“It’s something that we’ve wanted to do and we want it to be legal and we are very, very excited,” DeGeneres, 50, gushed.
Of the preparations, DeGeneres joked, “Planning a wedding is very stressful. It’s crazy. My gardener is now invited.”
Ellen and Portia started dating in 2004.
In an interview with Advocate Ellen said about Portia,
“I feel like I found my perfect fit. She’s taught me lessons about myself, and I feel like I’ve taught her.”
I can’t wait to see the wedding photos. I bet Ellen will be dressed in the fiercest suit ever and Portia’s dress is bound to be just gorgeous.
Shortly after the California Supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage, Ellen DeGeneres announced on her show that she and girlfriend of 4 years hottie Portia De Rossi are getting married. Awww! Congrats you two!
I think I am going to cry! So sweet!
Portia came out shortly after her and Ellen started dating in 2004, and Ellen came out in 1997 on her sitcom Ellen and on the cover of Time magazine with the famous headline “Yep, I’m gay”
Just look at the happy couple, how could anybody be against this??? They are both so in love, why deny them the same rights that heteros have?
Celebrities are speaking out about California’s Supreme Court decision of overturning the ban of same-sex marriage. Here is what a few gay celebrities had to say:
Ellen DeGeneres: “I’m thrilled that the California supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote. P.S. I’m registered at Crate & Barrel.”
T.R. Knight: “Our ‘certain inalienable rights’ are protected today. It makes me proud to live in a country that works to correct its sins.” Melissa Etheridge: “I feel they have made an honest woman of me. What a wonderful blessing for us and the gay community. We’re moving forward. It makes me feel happy for the whole human race that we are finally getting out of our differences and coming together and we are putting this all behind us.”
Chad Allen: “I have to say I was completely shocked at the level of emotion of my own reaction. It’s not that I didn’t care, it’s just that I didn’t know that I cared that much… I’m thinking about getting married. I am in love with my partner, deeply madly in love with him, and though I am not ready to propose yet, it is in there.”
