Project Runway’s Fan Favorite Losers

Posted on 13 July 2008 by HollyGoLightly

Only a few more days until reality sensation Project Runway returns to Bravo. I’m so excited– I cannot wait for all the new sewing room drama to unfold! No, really, I’m really excited to see more of those awesome fashion creations that come about from the challenges set forth in the show. As ridiculous as the challenges get, there are always a few designers that shine through.

Project Runway
If you watch the show religiously, as I have over the last four seasons, I’m sure you have your favorite designer that didn’t quite make it to the top honors. Even though our favorite character’s weren’t named “best in show” we still love them. Here is a quick rundown of my favorite losers from each season.

Season 4 - Rami

Rami

We all love the flamboyant, over the top & ruffly Christian Sirano (who can deny his sweet disposition and “fierce” one liners?). However, Rami is my favorite loser from season 4 for his thoughtful and carefully constructed designs. Rami rocked the final challenge. As Nick Verros (Season 2) said (pretending to be Rami) after the fashion show at Bryant Park, “You want wovens bitch. I’ll give you wovens!”

Rami is a true businessman whom has been established in the fashion industry for quite some time now. In the final challenge, he designed an entire line encompassing knits, wovens, skirts, tops, separates, dresses… the list goes on. Beyond his versatility as a designer, the refined aesthetic and attention to detail sets him apart from his competitors. Given the same amount of time, he is able to produce finished pieces that are elegant and show off his awesome technical skill.

Season 3- Uli

Uli

Sweet, blond, and German… No, Uli is not Heidi’s doppelganger, but she is season 3’s queen of colorful prints and flowy dresses. She won the audience over with her positive free spirit and adventurous feminine style. Uli has a zest for life and even though she grew up in the harsh reality of communist East Germany, she has managed to escape the drabness of her childhood and grown to create beautiful clothes.

In the last challenge, she showed a cohesive elegant collection. I have to agree with the judges up until that point she was making the same dress over and over. However in the collection for Fashion Week, Uli stepped out of her comfort zone mixed it up with some separates, solids, & sparkling details but in keeping with her signature style. She had the prettiest, most wearable collection for the average woman and for that reason she is my season 3’s top pick as favorite loser.

Season 2- Daniel V

Daniel V

Daniel Vosovic…Season 2’s young designing prodigy. He wized through challenges with creative ease sending his more experienced fellow contestants into a tizzy. Daniel’s clean, elegant, and perfectly constructed designs brought him all the way to the finale where Chloe Dao snatched victory away from the fan favorite designer. I can’t overstate how bummed I was when Daniel lost Season 2’s final challenge (I’m still in denial).

Anyways, his unique perspective and design talent showed through his work. His wit, thoughtfulness, and understated personality makes him a likable character to watch and root for (unfortunately ladies, he’s gay and taken). Daniel continues his blooming career in the fashion industry (he designed all the outfits on the cover of “Bonfire” magazine from Lipstick Jungle) and he will be an up and coming designer to watch. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Season 1- Austin Scarlett

Austin Scarlett

With a name like Austin Scarlett, you have to be from the south and a seriously fierce diva. Well, Austin is a city boy from New York New York, but true to his name he is a true diva. Austin was Season 1’s over the top personality. You couldn’t ignore his pale skin, blond hair, and the way he dresses like a Louis XIV French Courtier. But you have to give it up for the boy for not being afraid to show off his style. We all know he was probably beat up a lot as a kid growing up.

Personality aside, Austin produced some awe inspiring garments. He was the only one to use real produce (corn husks) in the grocery store challenge. He took chances and sometimes he failed to edit his ostentatious style, but no one can deny he has a point of view (not to mention he can sew like a bad-ass mofo). And although he never made it to the final 3, Austin is still doing well for himself these days. He designs his own line of (what else…) wedding gowns. Laurie from the “Real Housewives” bought one for her opulent OC wedding.

Austin 3Austin 1Austin 2

That’s my loser round-up! Can’t wait to see who becomes my new favorite loser this time around on Season 5…cuz, ya know, I’ll never be satisfied with just one winner.

The Hills… In New York?

Posted on 02 July 2008 by Jessca

Whitney Port

First Laguna Beach, then Hollywood, and now Manhattan? There has been talk of a possible spinoff of MTV reality show The Hills, featuring LC’s sweet sidekick, Whitney Port, through all new single-girl adventures in NYC. While only speculation, these rumors have left giddy fans wondering - is it really true?

Girls from The Hills

The scene has been set - Whitney left Teen Vogue at the beginning of last season, taking a challenging yet glamorous position at People’s Revolution, a cutthroat fashion PR company located in Los Angeles and New York City. When owner Kelly Catrone mentions a possible move for Whitney to the New York office, rumors started flying.

Between the constant drama between Heidi and Spencer, the excitement of LC’s life as a single, 20-something-year-old girl living in Hollywood, and Audrina’s adventures on the back of Justin Bobby’s motorcycle, Whitney is at times rarely featured in your average episode of The Hills. Which could go either way - following her around New York City could either be incredibly boring or stepping out of LC’s shadow could shed a whole new light to Whitney’s character and bring out the crazy in her. Every guy I know is already mildly obsessed with the sweet, sometimes goofiness of Whitney’s character, so if anything, ratings will probably probably skyrocket.

Whitney Port #2

Another MTV “reality” show? Bring it on.

Dave Navarro Dating ‘Rock of Love’ Runner-Up

Posted on 23 May 2008 by CeCe

We wrote earlier this week that the Rock of Love girls are going to be taught a thing or two about being a lady from Sharon Osbourne.  But it looks one of the girls in particular may need more help than the others.

Dave Navarro Dating ‘Rock of Love’ Runner-Up

Daisy De La Hoya, runner-up on VH1’s Rock of Love 2, was spotted out recently with Dave Navarro.  And in case you didn’t know, she is also the niece of the famous boxer Oscar de la Hoya.  I wonder if that’s how she got on the show in the first place??

The two were spotted together outside Crown Bar in West Hollywood.

Dave Navarro Dating ‘Rock of Love’ Runner-Up

This really isn’t a step up from competing to be Bret Michaels’ next fling, but it’s probably a major step up from whatever she was doing before she got cast on the show!

Dave Navarro Dating ‘Rock of Love’ Runner-UpI got the feeling she was a bit wacky on the show, but I didn’t know she desperate enough to be a rock star groupie!

And what ever happened to the Daisy that she seemed so sincere when she was sobbing about how much she loved Bret?!

I guess that Daisy is long gone!  Anyway, those two are just the right combination of rock and (train)wreck to look cute together.

Sharon Osbourne to Whip the ‘Rock of Love’ Girls in Shape

Sharon Osbourne to Whip the ‘Rock of Love’ Girls in Shape

VH1 definitely has cornered the celebrity-reality TV phenomenon.

What’s next you ask?

The Rock of Love girls!

Sharon Osbourne, the Rock n’ Roll pinnacle of manners and ladylike etiquette, is set to teach her ever charming ways to the class-challenged ladies of that fought over Bret Michaels’ heart.

The breakout stars from both seasons of Rock of Love will come together and live under one roof to learn and (hopefully) grow in the areas of etiquette, fashion, manners and moderation.

Although the world will thank Sharon for teaching the girls a thing or two- the ladies will compete ultimately for money.

But during this process, the girls will have to graduate from Rock of Love Girls: Charm School as polite and sophisticated ladies.

Osbourne was the first and best choice for Jeff Olde, EVP of Programming and Development at VH1 saying:

“Sharon Osbourne is undoubtedly one of the most successful women in the industry and truly an icon in the rock world.  We knew she would immediately capture the imagination and attention of our cast and our audience.  Not only is she a true master at the art of the business, but Sharon is a master at the art of being herself and we are thrilled to have her spearheading this show.”

He’s right- I mean she IS married to Ozzy Osbourne… that itself is a feat unmatched by any woman!

Osbourne will do her best as Headmistress to tame the rebellious sides of the 14 of the girls from both seasons.  Maybe she will take a page from her husband Ozzy and make them eat the heads off bats?

This is the second instillation of the show, the first with Mo’Nique trying to teach class to some of the girl from the Flavor of Love show.  I feel like the women this time around will prove to be more entertaining, though.

Anyone remember the French stripper?!  Case in point.

As for the contestants girls, whichever one makes the most progress toward prim and proper (or as close to it) will pocket $100,000 at the end of the show.

I think what I am most excited about for this show is Sharon Osbourne’s return to reality television!  And I guess all the wacky stuff she will make them do.  Anyone else with me??

The Bachelor’s leading ladies

The Bachelor: London Calling

Tonight at 10pm on ABC, the latest Bachelor (London Calling) will meet the families of the remaining four Bachelorettes and decide who is worthy of his British affection. Matt Grant, the lucky man of the season, will meet the families of Amanda, Chelsea, Noelle and Shayne, deciding who will receive the final two roses.
The latest season of The Bachelor has been lukewarm at best. Drama between the girls has been halfhearted and besides the attraction of his hot accent, Matt has followed suit with past bachelors as an attractive, yet empty-headed single dude. Which girls do I want to receive the roses? Amanda and Noelle seem like sweet, harmless women who care about Matt. The chemistry between Chelsea and Matt just isn’t there. Who do I think will move on? Shayne has proven herself to be an entertaining and surviving competitor, one of the girls Matt is most attracted to, and I admit, a girl I would love to be friends with. And if the rumors are correct, Matt may want those Lorenzo Lamas connections to get into the industry. Stay tuned for tonight’s show; we’ll see how smart I am.

Posted on 17 April 2008 by Travis Snyder

Kim Kardashian has become a paparazzi favorite this past year. Hanging out with her is just insane because there are always at least 10 paps following her around at any given time.  If she hits up a really trendy spot, such as Robertson or Mr Chows, then hundreds might appear.  These pics were taken while her hit show on E!, “Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s,” was filming…check them out to get an idea of what Kim K has become of since the success of the reality TV show about her and her family…

Britney Spears wants her own reality show

Posted on 11 April 2008 by tammy

Britney Spears wants her own reality show

Britney Spears and her team think that her having a reality show is a great idea. The show will follow Brit in her day to day life as she struggles to get healthy and mend her relationships with her friends and family, especially Kevin Federline and her kids. Her manager, Larry Rudolph and mom Lynne, are pitching the show to major networks. Britney’s dad is the only one who’s opposed.

Good for you, dad, being the only one to be watching out for Britney’s best interest! I’m kinda starting to like the guy. Why does it not surprise me that Brit’s mom Lynne, wants Britney to do it? That money hungry winch of a mother. You don’t see her making her own money– only stealing her children’s’. When is she going to start living her life and not her kids. Urrrr!

Let me just remind you of this very important word: Chaotic. Do we remember that mess of a reality show is what showed us all the start of Britney’s downward spiral? I don’t think she needs a reality show right now. She needs less cameras on her daily as possible. In my opinion, not a bright idea. She needs to work on getting better not how to make fast money.

What do you guys think? Will this be another Chaotic repeat or could this be a good thing?

Trashy women of America: Stacy of The Bachelor, London

Posted on 20 March 2008 by Syndeee

We can always count on Reality show producers to find Americas finest.  Just when you think that reality show women can’t get any trashier, The Bachelor: London Calling introduces us to Stacy, a 26 year old Graduate student from Dallas, Texas.

Stacy of The Bachelor, London

Stacy joined the cast of the Bachelor confident that she would be the final Bachelorette.  She claimed to be the “whole package.”  Stacy’s confidence was obviously shaken early on in the show. As an attempt to wow the Bachelor, Stacy stuffed her lacy white panties into his pants while he conversing with another Bachelorette.  She then later passed out drunk in one of the mansions many rooms.  Needless to say Stacy did not receive a rose and was sent home.  Way to represent the “whole package!”
