In a recent interview with Parade, Shia LaBeouf explains the meaning of his name. Shia told Parade,
In French, LaBeouf means ‘beef,’ but mine is spelled wrong. It should be ‘LaBoeuf.’ My grandmother was a beatnik lesbian in the 50’s, who hated her family and decided to change the spelling, and it’s been that way ever since. So you go to France and people are like, ‘LaBeouf? You have an illiterate last name.’ By the way, Shia is a bad four-letter word in French. So the literal translation of my name is ‘Sh*t the Beef.’ Kind of rock-starry, isn’t it?
I’ve heard of some bad names in my time, but this takes the cake. And to think there was a time when I actually thought his name was cool. It makes you wonder what the true meaning of other ‘cool’ celebrity names are.
Shia LaBeouf’s attorney, Michael Norris, has issued a statement regarding Shia’s recent car accident. Norris said,
“As you know, Shia was involved in a traffic collision last Sunday. He and his passenger were struck by another vehicle, as Shia was completing a left turn. The force of that impact immediately flipped Shia’s vehicle over, and, as a result, Shia’s left hand was crushed.
We have continued to cooperate with the police, and the Sheriff’s Department has released information that the other vehicle ran the red light while striking Shia’s truck.
Our independent investigation of the accident is ongoing, but we have also received information that suggests that the other driver may have been traveling upwards of 50 mph, and that said driver may not have been looking forward at the time of the accident.
Shia and his family are very thankful for the efforts of medical personnel at the scene, and for all the care and understanding that we have received at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center.
Shia underwent four hours of surgery on Sunday and has been recovering since then. His doctors remain hopeful that he will fully recover, but due to extensive surgery and the nature of the injuries, there remains a substantial risk of both infection and other complications.
Shia’s left arm remains fully immobilized from the elbow down, and he will need regular medical supervision until his doctors clear him to return to work. We are hopeful that this return will be sooner than later, and the “Transformers 2″ production company has rearranged their shooting schedule to accommodate this injury.
We remain very grateful for their understanding. We are very appreciative, again, of the patience that everyone has shown us, and of the many concerned citizens who have stepped forward to provide information regarding this collision.”
I like how Shia’s attorney didn’t address the issue of Shia being intoxicated at the time of the accident. Shia sure did get lucky. This accident would have cost him a pretty penny had he been at fault. Now I suppose he will get off just as easy as all the other celebrities that have been caught drinking and driving.
Shia LaBeouf is not blame for the early morning crash that took place Sunday, the driver of the other car ran a red light and was actually cited for a moving violation on the spot. Shia’s DUI still stands, but the cause of the wreck was not his fault. The identity of the other driver has not been revealed. What has been revealed is the identity of Shia’s passenger. He was out with Isabel Lucas, a co-star in ‘Transformers 2′ and apparent party buddy.
Isabel (pictured above) is from Australia and this is her first American movie. Watch out Isabel, Shia has said in interviews that he always gets a ‘thing’ for co-stars, but soon moves on when filming ends. What a heartbreaker!
Sheriff’s Sgt. Kristin Aloma said the actor “was exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication” and booked him on the misdemeanor DUI charge Sunday morning. According to his booking sheet, the normally lanky actor was listed as carrying 199 pounds on 5-foot-10 frame. Ding-Dang y’all, thats a whole lotta hunk! He must be all bulky from filming.
Hopefully he has learned his lesson, and thankfully no one else was hurt!
In the new issue of Details magazine, Shia LaBeouf talks openly about his drinking problem, which couldn’t come at a better time since he just got busted for a DUI.
On regularly smoking and drinking with his dad:
“We would drink together and smoke together, and it’s just a bad deal.”
On being a habitual drinker:
“It’s not something that is conducive to being a role model. … And I don’t know how to do it like a gentleman. I don’t know how to have one drink.”
Shia also talks about his Walgreens incident:
“It was two hotheads. One completely in the wrong, one who wasn’t enjoying his job that night, going at it about minuscule bullshit.”

FYI: Shia was chosen for the magazine’s cover before the DUI incident. “It’s already gone to print and everything,” a rep for the mag says. “Just coincidence in timing!”
It is reported that Shia LaBeouf was involved in a car accident at about 3:00 AM Sunday morning at the corner of La Brea and Fountain in Hollywood. Shia made a left turn in front of another car and the two collided, causing Shia’s car to roll.
Paramedics were called the the scene and both Shia and the victim were taken to a local hospital. Shia had surgery on his left hand that was injured after he rolled his car. Law enforcement says he’ll be cited and released on suspicion of DUI misdemeanor.
There was a female in Shia’s car, and both she and the the male driver of the other car suffered bumps and bruises. Nothing serious; that’s why it is a misdemeanor and not a felony.

If you drink, then get a driver to take you around. Why didn’t you call me? I was available! And you know how much I love you!
Shia has been in trouble a lot for someone who wants to focus on his craft and not do the whole party scene. First it was that Walgreensfiasco and then he was busted for smoking, twice! When is it going to end Shia?
While filming his latest movie, Transformers 2, Shia LaBeouf got into some trouble in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. He was smoking a little ciggy in the mens room when he set off the smoke alarm.

The security guards busted in just as he threw his butt in the toilet, but alas the evidence was still floating around and he got a stern talking to. Along with a warning that he would be ejected from the site if it happened again. He has also gotten in trouble in the past from smoking on the sidewalk in Burbank, where smoking is pretty much illegal.
If this is the extent of his ‘bad boy’ behavior then lock him up and throw away the key! NOT! Smoking is sexy, especially when it’s Shia. So long as you quit someday, I say smoke it Smokey McSmokerton! Hey, at least it’s not crack.
Shia LaBeouf has apologized for a video of him at a house party with his drunk friends, that made its rounds yesterday. It has been taken down from YouTube but you can view it here.
The video basically shows Shia telling his friend to slap him in the face. When his friend decides, “Not today, sir.” Shia calls him a “fa**ot” and then receives a slap across the face.
Shia’s rep told E! News, “The videotape that is currently being circulated is several years old and captures Shia playing a game among friends in which he uses a derogatory word toward a friend. He regrets having used the word in any capacity and is very embarrassed that this footage is being seen by anyone.”
Seriously, hot… like ‘take your shirt off I wanna rub oil on your chest’ hot. I first noticed that when I went to see Transformers in the theater, my heart and tummy did funky back flips when he came on screen. They way he looked at Megan Fox (who lives up to her name BTW!) it made me want him to look at me like that, and yea, it freaked me out! This is the guy from Holes for Christ sake! I set the timer on my T.V. to come on when he was on Letterman the other night, I hear his name and I perk up I can’t help it! I am obsessing over him and I can’t stop, I need like some sort of a step program. But not 12 of them, thats overkill.
2. You kinda creep me out
The fact that he is 6 years younger then me is enough to creep me out (not sure if that would technically make me a “cougar” or not…) I am usually into older gentlemen ala Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, George Clooney, Brad Pitt. Well you get the picture, So I have no idea why I am so sprung on this kid! But then there is a weird cadence to his speaking in interviews, and he gets all shifty and fidgety and looks around a lot. Like he is so uncomfortable that it makes you uncomfortable, I totally love it and I want to hug him so he will stop moving…. and then sit on his lap, oh yeah, I went there…. what?!
3. You stay away from the party scene and care about your craft
I think I found one Les Deux drunken paparazzi video and he was just like standing there, not scandalous at all! He totally runs like hell when they come anywhere near him, who does that?! Shia LaBeouf does! When asked about the club scene and all the young stars partying it up in a Entertainment Weekly interview, he had this to say;
”It could all go away tomorrow if I’m at a club drinking like an asshole,” adding that, “someone like Lindsay Lohan’s personality is [more] famous than her performance.”
Not only does he ad lib a lot, which adds realness, but he adds an angst to his roles that make the characters believable. Talented men are sexy.
4.You are wicked awesome with a sarcastic sense of humor
He totally doesn’t take himself seriously and that is so endearing and hot. He started off doing stand up when he was 10 and apparently his material was very dirty, I totally dig the dirty jokes. He is so dry in interviews and that sends me! I would love to just go back and forth with the snarky dry comments. I get you Shia LaBeouf.
5. You run really, really fast
He challenged a photog that was following him in D.C. to a foot race and totally won! Fast runners are soooo hot! It gets me every time! I love a man that can run, don’t ask me why,
and he has really pretty eyes

Last night on David Letterman, Shia LeBeouf talked about his infamous Walgreens shoplifting incident that occurred Nov. 4.
Shia admitted to Dave that he was “pretty wasted” when he headed to Walgreens in the wee hours of the morning. He said he headed down the cosmetic aisle after noticing a blemish.
“I see the security guard and he’s looking at me, four in the morning, pretty disheveled, pretty messed up on the special magic sauce. And I get the pimple cream, and he’s looking at me, he’s kinda giggling to himself, and now I’m starting to feel like, ‘What? It’s really not that funny, guy, you know? Men need this stuff, too.’ ”
Unfortunatly, after returning to his hotel, Shia realizes that he forgot to get some cigarettes. So he heads back to Walgreens and in his foggy headed state he only seems to purchase candy.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull star Shia LaBeouf, is looking snazzy in a suit and tie on GQ’s latest magazine cover.
Here are some excerpts from his interview:
On working on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: “I never worked so hard for anything in my life. I did four months of sword fighting and bike training. And I spent insane amounts of time on the switchblade.”
On the rumors that he dated Rihanna: “My friends were like, ‘Are you serious, bro? Why didn’t you tell me about that?’ I was like, ‘I really don’t know her like that.’ For weeks they were singing that ‘Umbrella’ song everywhere I walked. And those are my people!”
On being head-over-heels with all of his female costars: “I’ve been in love with every woman I’ve ever worked with ( Megan Fox, Sarah Roemer and Michelle Monaghan). [But] there’s the three-month attention span that actors have. I don’t know if it’s mutual, but I really don’t care. They have to kiss me when ‘action’ gets called, anyway, so I’ll get what I want.”
