Paul Becker really showed off his broad range of talent as a choreographer and artist on last night’s So You Think You Can Dance Canada. The show kicked off with a high energy tribal dance inspired by the marial art of capoeira that Becker choreographed.
The production was super elaborate–like watching a musical–with traditional African drums, dancers in full tribal costume, wielding machetes and wooden sticks, while spinning, jumping and doing barrel flips. Paul Becker and the dancers did an amazing job!

How do you think Canada’s version compares to America’s SYTYCD?
On Monday, June 23rd, Shane Sparks–renown hip hop choreographer and celeb judge for FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance and MTV’s America’s Next Dance Crew–celebrated his birthday in style at Falcon Restaurant in Hollywood.
Guests included Shane’s gorgeous girlfriend, Francia Raisa (The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Kel Mitchell (Keenan & Kel), Lil Mama, Layla Kayleigh, The Jabbawockeez (Winners of the first season of America’s Best Dance Crew) and DJ Goldfingers.
We were impressed with the venue’s chill and classy ambiance, but the crowd quickly brought the energy way up when the dancing began. As you may expect at a choreographer’s birthday, the place was packed with amazing talent. So much so that it made it a bit intimidating to get out on the dance floor.
