Lou Diamond Phillips Winner Of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here’

Posted on 25 June 2009 by Tammy Cakes

Yes, this show is finally over.

La Bamba’s, Lou Diamond Phillips is the winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. He beat out former pro-wrestler Torrie Wilson (2nd), and ex-NBA star John Salley (3rd) to win the shows second season. As winner, his prize money is being donated to Art Has Heart, a non-profit that provides college scholarships for high school students in need.

All of the contestants, minus the comedy duo Frangela, returned to give support to the finally three. I feel bad that they all had to endure Speidi one last time. Frangela was smart not to return.

“This experience is head and shoulders and far to the left of anything I’ve ever done,” said Phillips, who spent three weeks of the competition immune to being voted off, whether because he was camp leader or a challenge winner.

“No movie set ever compared to this—this is the real deal and it’s been an amazing trip,” he said.

Hollywire Wins BIG at Top Chef and AT&T Giveaway!

Posted on 12 June 2009 by Lexacahn

A few of us at Hollywire were strolling through our adjacent parking lot yesterday when we came across a Top Chef expo, in which last season’s winner Hosea Rosenberg was doing a cooking demonstration.

There was a lot of “humorous” Top Chef merchandise on sale, and there was also a booth at the AT&T store because AT&T had teamed up with Bravo to do promotions for the show.  The big promotion was a raffle to win a brand new Blackberry Curve 8900, and so of course we all entered our names to win the big prize.

Long story short, there were three prizes, and Syndeee and Lexacahn won two of them!  Syndee won a noise cancelling Bluetooth earpiece, and Lexacahn won THE BLACKBERRY CURVE 8900!!  We screamed, and laughed and cried, all at the same time….it was magical!

Thanks Top Chef!

James “J.T.” Thomas Jr Unanimously Wins Survivor: Tocantins

Posted on 18 May 2009 by Tammy Cakes

Alabama cattle rancher, James “J.T.”  Thomas Jr came out on top on the Survivor: Tocantins season finale last night. J.T was unanimously voted by the tribal counsel to be the $1 million winner. As if the $1 million was enough, the 24 year old champ was also rewarded an additional $100k for being the fan-favorite.

J.T. only has two plans for the future: to take the money he won and make more of it, and to somehow work with Stephen Fishbach again because he feels obligated and grateful that they made it so far together.

Samoa will be the site of the 19th season, which heads back to CBS this fall.

Plus size Whitney wins America’s Next Top Model

Posted on 15 May 2008 by ksouthall

Whitney

Is the fashion world really going to change to suit the full figured Whitney, winner of America’s Next Top Model?

We can only hope. I was thinking, as I watched curvy Whitney stomp it out against slender Anya in the runway showdown featuring Donatella Versache, that designers should be required to include at least one plus size model in all fashion shows. Regulations were added to fashion week that required models be within a certain BMI to ensure they were “healthy”, so why not take it a step further?

Can this be a sign of the times? Whitney said from the beginning of cycle 10 that she wanted to break barriers and now it looks like she might get the chance.

Go on and get yours Whitney!

Season Four’s Project Runway winner: Christian Siriano

Posted on 06 March 2008 by Tammy Cakes

Christian Siriano became the youngest Project Runway winner, at 22, when he beat out the other finalists Jillian Lewis and Rami Kashou. Being the big winner of the night, Christian won a six page spread in Elle magazine, a Saturn Aura, and $100,000 to help start or run his own company.

“I’m humbled,” he said in a phone interview hours before Part 2 of the finale aired. “Project Runway the show, with the challenges, that’s my game. I can make clothes quickly and I can make clothes creatively.” But Project Runway at New York Fashion Week? “I was really nervous. … It was a really scary thing. I only planned to win. I didn’t know what I was going to do with my life if I didn’t win.”Christian also gave an exclusive interview to OK! magazine after his victory.

Although Christian always seemed so cocky and confident on the show, his nerves got the best of him in the finale.“I was just competing with really amazing designers. I mean, Jillian and Rami are really amazing designers. They are so talented, it was scary. I didn’t know what the judges would want, it was scary, but it worked out.”

Christian got a big boost from celebrity guest judge, Victoria Beckham. “I’m going to hopefully meet with Victoria next week, so that will be great.”

Who is another one of Christian’s favorite celebrity style heroine?   “Cate Blanchett. I think she takes a little risk with her fashion. It’s Europeon inspired, and she wears a lot of Alexander McQueen and I interned there, I just think she’s fabulous. And Sarah Jessica Parker too.”

What’s next for the young designer? First he’s going to take some of his PR prize money and buy a bed. “Yes, that’s the first purchase, let me tell you. When that check comes in the mail, it’s like ‘cha-ching.’ Yes, deposit that check, and clicky-click that bed, I mean that.”

In the meantime he’s been keeping busy with charity events. “I did a benefit for my high school, raised $50,000, that was great.” First and foremost, though, “ I want to work on my own line for next season, that’s like a really big goal for me. I have a lot of things going on. I don’t want to jinx anything.”
