Leonardo DiCaprio is the go-to actor for essentially any prestigious movie that's meant to connect with both audiences and critics, having worked with the biggest names in the game ― we're talking Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, James Cameron, Clint Eastwood. See? Everyone.

He’s played characters ranging from a nasty villain with a sweet tooth in Django Unchained to important historical figures like Howard Hughes and J. Edgar Hoover to one of the biggest names in American literature, the title character of The Great Gatsby (opening today!). One thing his roles have in common? Not a whole lot of them take place in the present.

Yep, it turns out that Leo is a big fan of the period piece, as he’s embodied characters who hail from at least four different centuries, from 17^th century France to the pre-Civil War American South to the Wild West and, yes, a few more modern offerings. So in honor of his detour in the Roaring Twenties today, we decided to track Leo on his journey through time across his cinematic career (in chronological order, of course) ― catch it after the jump!

'Django,' 'Ted' Lead 2013 MTV Movie Awards Nominations

At long last, someone has figured out a way to link Django Unchained and Ted together.

Just because awards season is over doesn't mean there won't be any prizes handed out until next year. The 2013 MTV Movie Awards take place on April 14 and both films lead the way in overall nominations with seven each, including in the coveted Movie of the Year category. Obviously, this isn't the Oscars, so the choices are a nice mix between the artistic and the not-quite-so-artful. Silver Linings Playbook has six nominations while The Dark Knight Rises has five.

Well, that didn't take long...

We normally have to wait hours for a major Oscar upset to take place (if it even happens at all), but the first award handed out at the 2013 Oscars was a shocker as Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Django Unchained.

Quentin Tarantino and violence go together like peanut butter and jelly. In fact, he’s never made a movie that isn’t soaked in blood and mayhem. From the badass assassins in Pulp Fiction to the sword-slinging Bride in Kill Bill, pretty much nobody out-kills Quentin Tarantino.

So it’s no surprise, then, that he doesn’t think there’s any correlation between on-screen bloodshed and the off-screen massacres that have been plaguing our nation for more than a decade with increasing frequency. In the wake of the Newtown shootings, Django Unchained has taken more flack than it usually might for its extreme violence (and some for its revisionist depiction of slavery). In a recent interview with NPR, Quentin had finally had enough.
