Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera, who sold over 15 million albums worldwide and recently won two Billboard Mexican Music Awards, died yesterday in a plane crash in the mountains of northern Mexico. She was 43 years old.
The plane went missing around at 3:40am departing from the city of Monterrey, where she had just performed in front of thousands of fans. The small plane only had six other passengers on board, all of whom are also reported to be dead -- her publicist, her lawyer, a family friend and two pilots. Authorities have not officially confirmed her death, but there are few doubts she was on the plane that disintegrated on impact.

It is believed that all nine passengers from both aircraft have died. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg called the crash "not survivable" and stated, "This is not going to have a happy ending.
