AT&T Helps Kris Allen When American Idol
Apparently there are still some people still upset and are trying to figure out how Kris Allen ended up winning American Idol. If you weren't mad at the results before, you'll be mad now.
The New York Times published their American Idol win theory last night. According to the paper, AT&T, one of AI's biggest corporate sponsors helped viewers sway their votes towards Kris Allen. Why you ask? Well probably because Adam is gay.
AT&T is said to have gone to local Arkansas parties held in Kris Allen's honor last Tuesday night and handed out several of their phones with free text-messaging service as well as teaching customers how to power text, sending out 10 texts at once. The disclaimer at the bottom of the AI screen tells us that this is not allowed.
The company confirms that they did have reps at two parties after the final performance episode last week. They said: “In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested.”
Also, considering only AT&T subscribers are allowed to text in their votes and standard rates still apply, that's some sketchy stuff.
So far, no Adam Lambert parties have reported the presence of cheater phones.
